Average!!

The food is super cheap. The selection is awesome and the sides are to die for. I wouldn't take a girl here on the first date as its really a 3rd date kinda place (you know...when you know that she digs your mo-jo) The portions are obscene, so don't be afraid to chicken out and take some home. (better that, than forcing it and falling into the inevitable food coma).

It was more food than Thanksgiving dinner!

by Gramercy18

I loved it. The ribs fell off the bone. The Mac-N-Cheese was awesome. The okra was cooked to perfection. I have never wanted to review a restaurant before but I have to because this place was amazing! I will take all guests from out of town here!

  • Pros: Family style for $25, BYOB, Location
  • Cons: No Bathroom

Best fried green tomatoes EVER.

by westside44

Try the fried green tomatoes while you can and don't miss the potatoes au gratin. The sweet tea is the best in the city with - I kid you not - free refills. Go early because it fills up fast.

  • Pros: fresh well-cooked food, friendly service, tasty!
  • Cons: not next-door to my apartment

Most delicious ribs in the city.

by ScottyKnows76

I'll say that the ribs are by far the BEST I've ever tasted in the city. Not only are they delicious, but they are super-plump ... each and every rib slides off the bone with a slight bite from your choppers. The spice rub wasn't spicey or sweet, but gave them a muted and easy flavor. They also weren't very fatty--a plus--with just the right amount on 'em--you'll have more meat! The rib sauce is on the medium-sweet side and it gets the job done, but I'd like to see a spicier sauce for the ribs, too. In a city full of ridiculously-priced pretentious food, you get SO much of your money's worth here ... and you're probably stepping-out with a doggie-bag. The pulled-pork sandwich is delicious, and the many side dishes were tastey as well--especially the collard greens--very fresh. The service was like a backyard picnic and very homey. We bought a load of beers for a friend's b-day (it's B.Y.O.B.) and they gave us buckets with ice to keep 'em cool. The waitress joked with us, and also was attentive by taking away empties and whatever else with ease. It's a small space, but it's big heart is in the flavor and size of the food you get to enjoy. One thing though, they don't have a restroom--so you'll have to run across the street after a bucket o' beers. Overall, a soulful 'lil joint!

  • Pros: Ribs, ribs, ribs. Down-home service. Prices.
  • Cons: No bathroom.

Loads of ribs, tasty sides, low cost

by bananadan

Incredibly generous serving of ribs in a no-nonsense setting. There were other choices on the menu but all three of us went for the ribs dinner at $17. This comes with two sides, and there were special sides like green beans, potato skins, brussels sprouts and asparagus along with the expected corn bread, baked beans, cole slaw, fries and more. Not much seating in this sliver of a restaurant, and comfort is only moderate, but when the food arrives all is forgotten. Two portions would have been quite adequate for three people, since the sides are served in a medium-sized bowl. We were too stuffed to indulge in their banana pudding dessert. Nice people, great service. Bring your own beer/wine. Nothing fancy, but great if you like ribs!

  • Pros: delicious food at a very reasonable price
  • Cons: not the romantic spot for a first date

Great BBQ

by luvnyc401

Have been here once and was very happy with my meal. This is good, home-style bbq, the place feels like theres a family in the kitchen preparing an amazing Sunday dinner for you. I had the pulled pork with a side of potato salad and it was amazing. My friend had ribs- which was an enormous portion, those were great as well. Topped it off with dessert and we left stuffed, pleased, and with money in our wallets. Some tips- the place is byob so bring a few beers to wash down those ribs. Also this is kinda like eating @ a picnic- right down to the restroom situation. It doesn't have an actual bathroom, its located in the restaurant across the street. Although that sounds like a pain it actually took just as long as walking down a flight of stairs to get there so it really isn't a problem. For a casual, home cooked, true south bbq I would definitely recommend this place.

  • Pros: Real bbq, byob, great prices
  • Cons: Very casual, chairs a little uncomfortable but totally worth it

great ribs, friendly service

by piratemeatball

We ordered from Georgia's Eastside for the first time tonight, and it was great. The ribs were wonderful, cornbread buttery and tea just sweet enough. We're definitely ordering again soon.

  • Pros: friendly service, great food, good prices

Real Deal Pulled Pork Sandwich

by confederatedunce

As a Memphis, TN native who's been scouring the city far and wide for an authentic BBQ pulled pork sandwich (sweet/spicy sauce with slaw on top), I've finally found a place that feels like home. Highly recommended.

Delicious down-home, low-priced 'cue served with a side of humble pride.

by Kathleen Squires

The Scene
A no-frills roadhouse picnic vibe is achieved without the aid of (liquid) smoke and mirrors--just a few family photos, a mounted fish, checkered vinyl tablecloths and raw-wood wainscoting. The friendly, causal service makes diners feel right at home, and the 19 seats invite neighborly interaction.

The Food
The barbecue-focused menu gets right down to business. There are no long lists of appetizers or salads--just generously stuffed sandwiches or dinner platters stacked with the likes of beer-steamed ribs slathered in a homemade spice rub and juicy pull-away shreds of pork shoulder topped with a sweet, smoky sauce. The moist fried chicken tastes as down-home as the 'cue, with a crunchy buttermilk coating. Two sides come with each platter: Molasses-touched collard greens and lightly-mayoed potato salad are among the top picks, and many dishes are garnished with coleslaw marked by freshness. Best of all, low prices transport diners far down south most authentically.

Hits: The small menu allows for extra care in cooking the tasty, addictive 'cue.

Misses: Occassionally the kitchen stumbles--the dry, crumbly texture of cornbread is a disservice to its fine flavor.

Good (but not great) ribs

by master94

Being that I live on Orchard Street, I was anxious for this place to open because I'm a huge fan of ribs. The ribs are described on the menu as "fall off the bone", which they aren't. Don't get me wrong, they tasted good (especially liked the sauce) but they weren't "fall off the bone" moist. I had to us a knife to cut the meat from the rib and the meat was a tad dry.

As for the rest of the menu, the pulled pork was good and I also tasted their fried green tomatoes (also good).

All in all, it's definitely worth trying, but for me it wasn't the top-notch ribs I had hoped for.

  • Pros: BYOB
