not a fan

by salvij1

A few buddies of mine and I go, or as I should say, used to go every Monday night to watch Monday Night Football - unlimited wings & beer with a lively atmosphere and PHENOMINAL service. That is, until the past week. It seems as though they've let go of one of our favorite girls- she's there every monday night. gessica is her name. She's got a smile that will make you weak in the knees. When I went over to ask the hostess as she brushed me away while typing on her IPhone, she simply said "I don't know, Gessica is gone." If you want good service people, go elsewhere 'cause I'm from the South, the food 'aint all that great and the one reason for anyone to keep going back is now gone. JT, you want people to love your place? start with having a friendly staff- as opposed to the ones with d*cks up their asses who do nothing but frown.

Come hungry and go for the King's Combo - some of the best fried chicken you'll find anywhere, especially in Manhattan.

My favorite place

by ginamarie85

Southern Hospitality is the best! The food is delicious, and I absolutely love their spareribs and mac'n'cheese. My roommate had never had BBQ before we went here for my last birthday, and now she's hooked. The servers are great, and my friends and I have a lot of fun there. They have live music several times a week, which always brings a fun crowd. Check out their page on Twitter for specials, like free fried pickles or drinks for telling the bartender certain phrases.

Definitely a spot to check out while you're in NYC.

  • Pros: great bbq, live music, awesome drinks

Great place

by lastone50

I booked the private room for 20 people to watch a Giants game.It is a great space to watch a game,4 screens,a dedicated server and pretty good eats.I will definitely book it again next NFL season. The pulled pork sliders, ribs and the burgers were very good.

I Will Definitely Be Coming Back!!

by Emilybee86

Last week I went to Southern Hospitality for the first time, and I will definitely be going back! My friends and I came for dinner (awesome wings), and ended up staying at the bar after. The staff was friendly, and even though the place was busy, our waitress was very attentive. If you are looking for a good time and great bbq, make sure you check it out.

  • Pros: atmosphere, music, great staff and food

Great for Brunch with friends

by duranie70

I went last Sunday with 9 other friends. We arrived at 2pm- no wait and we got a nice long table in front of the cool Elvis murals. The waitress was great and very attentive, we got our drinks and food very quickly.

The food was really good. A bunch of us had the fried green tomatoes and they were so good! I had the chicken and waffles - better than Roscoe's in LA. The creamed corn was really yummy. Food was reasonably priced, we would definitely come back.

To the person that wrote the last review- you ordered fried ribs.. and you complain they were greasy? What did you expect them to be like... they were fried! I'm sorry, I had to laugh at that one.

My husband loved the Memphis style chocolate cobbler.

If you are on the upper east side, you should definitely give it a try, you'll come back for more.

  • Pros: Great Memphis style food

Justin needs to get it together

by Dluvly

Took a friend from NC, who loves Justin. Thought that the restaurant would live up to Justin's name as well as his popularity. Nothing but a big disappointment. Thinking that it was located uptown that this would be a great experience, but no. We had the fried ribs was greasy, the macaroni with beans not worth the price, sweet potatoes was not anything different from can, had the pecan pie again, just like any other pie. 2 people 65.00 without tip, including a 1 drink, 1 tea, and another dessert.

The restaurant is quite simple atmosphere nothing special, the lady's room is horrible, broken doors, no toilet paper, and broken toilet seats.

Though Timberlake owns the restaurant, his partners are not doing their jobs. It does not belong on the upper side at all, not worth the trip.

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: all

Crappy BBQ and Even Crappier Service

by huffy1823

I took a friend here because she was visiting from down south and was excited to eat some BBQ in NYC as well as had always wanted to go to the restaurant Justin Timberlake owned. Not only were the BBQ ribs not authentic southern style and tasted average for their high price, but the waitress we had was very rude. She ignored us the entire time, took forever to get our drinks, and never checked up on us once we had our food. Both of us ordered rips- usually when people ordered rips you need more than one napkin especially if their BBQ. We had 1 napkin and since our waitress didn't check on us after we got our food, we had to ask a bus boy for extra napkins. I worked in the food service industry and have been a waitress for 9 years and have not experienced such crappy service in a very long time. Therefore I tipped under 20% which is something I never do considering my background and experience- but since it was so horrible I did. Would not go back again and do not bring someone from the South who knows BBQ way better than this sham of a restaurant.

  • Pros: Cool Decorations
  • Cons: Waitstaff, prices, and quality of food

Good not great

by caweenna

I was looking forward to the fried pickles but I was very disappointed. I was expecting something light and sour but instead, it was breaded and tasted of only breading. The ribs were decent and the burger was pretty decent. Wouldn't say it's a place I would frequent again but overall not a bad experience. Server was very nice and attentive when needed. Shout out to the ladies, be careful of the bathroom doors, they jam easily!

I had an overall positive dining experience. All of my food was great and the service was too. Romantic too. Yes it was pricey but in my case it was a special occassion and worth it.I would recommend to anyone.
