So glad to have found Helen! My Fay Fay is a special needs dog and requires a lot of gentle loving care since he was neglected in his previous home. I didn't feel comfortable bringing him to a groomer since I've read quite a few terrifying reviews from owners who've brought their dogs to the groomer. But, i'm so happy and grateful to have found Helen, who was willing to schlep all her tools and trek out to Queens in close to 90 degree heat to give Fay Fay his grooming. She did an amazing, amazing job. We can't stop looking at Fay Fay because he looks soooo adorable and cute after his grooming. We love it Helen! Not only was she attentive and patient she was also very experienced. I highly recommend Helen for all pets because she really takes her time and takes a lot of care. We only trust Helen's hands with Fay Fay!

Helen came to my apartment to give my puppy her first cut. My calm, loving puppy turned into a crazy monster the minute the hair dryer turned on. And from there it was all downhill - saying my puppy was difficult is as major understatement. I was mortified, but Helen was so understanding and calming. She did everything to get my puppy to feel comfortable - singing, petting, massage, food...she was great. The fact that she stayed despite the way my puppy acted was amazing. The fact that she managed to finish drying her hair, cut her nails and groom her was amazing. The fact that my puppy looked perfect after Helen worked on her is down right miraculous, given the way she was squirming and convulsing the entire time. Helen is amazing. I could not recommend her more. She is accommodating, warm, patient, funny and incredibly talented! There is no way we would ever go to anyone else.

I found Helen from reviews off of this site, actually, and when I called Helen to make an appointment, I immediately knew I was in good hands. Bender had his first professional grooming with Helen and she made it such a good experience for Bender and Mom! Helen not only was on time, but arrived 15 minutes early because she knew I had a prior commitment. That is service above and beyond. Helen came to our apartment, was great with Bender, and he looked fantastic when she was through with him. Although a bit wiggly, she was able to calm him and I didn't hear a peep from him through the process, which totally surprised me because he was only about 5 months old at the time and still in active puppy stage. I cannot give Helen enough praise for her work, and I would highly recommend her if you are in search of a professional and caring groomer.

My long-haired cat got severe clipper burn from a "reputable" and expensive Upper East Side salon so I had been trying to groom her myself for a year. Keeping up with the mats was impossible, but I was too afraid to take her to another groomer. Then I heard about "The Pet Maven," read all the rave reviews and decided to try. She changed my (and my cat's) life! From the first phone call I knew she was a professional who really cares about animals, treating them with care and respect. My cat "Baby Doll" was a little peeved at the whole situation, because she'd had a bad experience, but Helen was so gentle and reassuring it was not at all a traumatic experience- for either Baby Doll or me! Helen also bathed her, and dried her with an expert hand that was amazing. She was on time and friendly- it was a pleasure having her in my home, and it was so heartwarming to see how happy Helen was when it was over. She takes great pride in her work and I will never consider using anyone but her to care for my pet

I used Helen's grooming services to groom my 5 year old himalayan cat. I'm ashamed to say I let her get pretty matted along her legs. Helen was great, she just came in and got it done. She was very gentle and professional. I really appreciated how careful she was. The in-home aspect is also amazing. It was so easy for me and Roxi (my kitty)! She even came all the way out to Astoria for me! I would recommend this to anyone, it's well worth the money!

I have 2 cats that have never seen water, much less been shaved before, and Helen knew exactly how to handle each one with their opposite personalities. She was very prompt, and had much knowledge about being able to tell when my cats were stressed, and how to sooth and handle them..and it ended up being a quick and easy experience. I didnt have to leave my home, and her schedule was very flexible, and i would recommend her to anyone for cats or dogs.

Wow!!! I am more than happy with this service. She showed up on time and was very careful handleing my cats that had never had cuts before. My cats look great!!! She really knows what she's doing and dose it with integrity. "Thanks Pet Maven"

Helen does an extraordinary job taking care of my cat, Samantha’s grooming. She is so gentle with Sam and takes great care and is very patient. My cat is usually very nervous and fearful around strangers but is very comfortable with Helen handling her. I highly recommend The Pet Maven.

Helen is the consummate professional. She showed up on time and when top of the line supplies. She spent over an hour and a half tending to my Puppy and the end result was fantastic.

We have two Pomeranian puppies, aged 8 and 6 months. We decided to have them professionally groomed for the first time. Though I do comb them everyday, they needed a hair trim as well as a good-looking aspect, as they do show off (already!). Moreover, I could not trim their "tush" nor their ears, let alone the "wee-wee part" without wondering if the Society for animal protection would come into the appartment. My little Ulysse (the male) was taken care of first, supposed to be the "calm" one. He was very cautious at the beginning but turned to kiss Helen every five minutes. She trimmed his rear, his ears, his legs, his paws and his back..... with not only expertise but definitely love for the dog. My even smaller Penelope who used to scream, yell, beg for help whenever we touch her was amazingly quiet, even cooperating. She presented her legs one after the other when it was time to shave them. She kissed Helen when she trimmed her ears. Unbelievable!!!!!! When after three hours for both of them, Helen was going to leave, they both kissed her for being so well pampered. And! Yes, they are good-looking and they know that!!!!! They are flirting each other already.... as new dates! I shall definitely call back Helen for another grooming in a couple of months. I might be afraid my dogs leave with her..... but I only like people who love my dogs! and she does. Don't hesitate to call her. She is the BEST. Sylvie.
