Food was okay. Not much service provided around lunchtime. ** CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD MONTHLY STATEMENT ** as they overcharged mine even though I wrote a specific tips amount.
Best Sushi and Japanese Food!
by PNICO at Citysearch
For everyone that loves sushi, I've discovered the best kept secret in Midtown last night! This restaurant is ideally located for patrons who have theater plans and the food is absolutely delicious! Omido is on Broadway, between 53rd and 54th Street, and boasts a very nice decor!
For food and service worth way more than what you're paying, this is the place to go!
Friday night, date night!

My fiance said he have a great surprise for me on our anniversary. When the cab took us to Time Square, I bit my lips to keep myself from saying something bad.. well, he's not a native New Yorker and I thought maybe he doesn't really know what he's doing. We went to Omido for dinner. The place is small but the decor was beautiful! We sat at the Sushi Bar and had a tasting menu. I've dropped so many hints of wanting to go to Nobu or Megu.. but Omido is now on my top list for my favorite Sushi place! It's under-rated for the value it has to offer. Loved the kampachi, the botan, the temari was my favorite! The meal was well planned by the chef, who I later found out was the same chef from Yujin! My favorite place in the West Village! I realized the familiarity of the seaweed salad which was another dish on the top of my list. Chef Taka deserves more praise than what he's getting! Anyway, back to my date night.. so, I felt sorry I ever thought about my fiance not knowing what a romantic evening was all about, because a night at Omido was very romantic. Great atmosphere, good food, candle light.. then we walked around Time Square and went to a show. I realized, he wanted to give me the absolute New York experience.. because we are moving out of NY. And for the first time, I saw Time Square in a different light. It was beautiful.
- Pros: The food, decor, service, sake list
- Cons: Time Square.. tourist cluttered pavement.. hehe
FANTASTIC!!!!!!

There are so many great restaurants in NY...this has to be one of the best. We find ourselves consistently going back to this stylish Japanese Restaurant. Aside from the Jade Flower & Shiso Mojito cocktails we are big fans of fresh fish. You will not be disappointed. The sashimi is top notch and there are innovative creations hidden in the menu...my favorite is the salmon sashimi & citrus miso. There are also great non-sushi offerings like wasabi rock shrimp, braised short ribs, soft shell crab & duck are our favorites.
Our only advice is to order many items as the dishes are small and as our waitress told us is the way the menu is designed. We live in the neighborhood and appreciate having this restaurant close by...it hasn't been over run by tourists. Stop by...maybe we will meet at the bar.
- Pros: Great food & drinks...feels like a downtown restaurant
- Cons: Starting to get busy

I went here 3 times within the first 2 months after it opened. Had a very good experience each time. Business seemed slow at the time. Haven't been back in a while. Great to hear it's drawing crowds. Will definitely be back soon.
- Pros: Great food, great desserts
- Cons: Drinks weren't perfect
Favorite Theater District Sushi

My friend took me to Omido last Saturday night before a show, I have never been there before, but she highly recommended it. It was busy when we got there, but we seated in a reasonable amount of time. Our waiter was very helpful with recommending his top choice items from the menu. The sake was really good and there was a huge selection. The food was some of the best sushi I have had in a long time, I wasn't surprised when I found out that it was the same chef from Sushi Samba. Overall, the experience was enjoyable and I would recommend it to friends and family. My only complaint is the noise. It was a little hard to have a conversation at times. I'll go again on a less busy night, but would definitely go again.
- Pros: Food, Drink, Service
- Cons: Noise
Amazing sushi to compliment the incredible decor!

My boyfriend and I went to Omido last Saturday and by the end of the evening, we were chockfull of great food and delicious sake. We loved the wood-paneled walls, the large, central sushi bar, and the cozy, romantic ambience that one does not usually find in Times Square. The prices are almost as great as the fresh fish. Out waiter was so nice and accommodating. He even helped us decide on what to order and what sake would compliment it. Between the two of us, we had he "Big Omido" futomaki roll. It combined eel, tuna, avocado, tamago, and others into one giant inside-out roll. We also found the spicy tuna roll the best we'd had in recent memory. In the tempura rock shrimp appetizer, the shrimp were unusually juicy and flavorful inside their tempura casing, and the sauce was a sophisticatedly subtle wasabi aioli. Overall, Omido is a great place for sushi loves and newbies alike to dine on at a delicious, reasonably priced restaurant.
- Pros: Fresh fish, great atmosphere, great prices, awesome service
treated like a king

My wife and I had dinner at Omido a couple of nights ago. We were seated right away and the hostess, who we later discovered to be the manager, greeted us by name and as if she was expecting us. It was our first time here and the waiter was very helpful and suggested some wonderful dishes. I had the braised kobe short ribs and they were so tender they melted in my mouth. All the sushi and sashimi was beautifully presented, fresh and tasty. Their sake collection was concise, and we were easily able to find one we liked very much. We finished our evening with the mango parfait... you have to try this!!!!! All in all, the food was great, the staff seemed happy and friendly, we will definitely go back.
- Pros: fresh sushi, friendly and graceful staff
- Cons: music too low
The worst dining experience
by christinaren at Citysearch
Small space with cool decor. It looks like they focus so hard on the decor but everything else. The service is awful. My waiter is inexperience and bad. He couldn,t recommend us anything from the wine and sake lists. He confused our order. We had to ask to speak to the manager. She turned out to be rude and unaccommodating.Terrible attitude from the manager. In short, the poor service reviews here ring true. And I should have taken them seriously. The food is below average and overprice. I definately would not go back or recommend this restaurant.
- Pros: Decor
- Cons: Bad management
avoid overpriced mediocre food and bad management and service
by kakis at Citysearch
My husband and I stayed at a hotel near by and the concierge recommended Omido. When we got there the employees ignored us for quiet some time and we did not get seated for a while although the restaurant was not busy at all, the place was most unorganized, the food was mediocre and overpriced we asked to speak to the manager because we could not get our waiter for 15 min and the woman rudely let us know that he'll be with us soon with no apology nor did she at the least ask us what is it that we wanted (it was our bill we were waiting for) and I can bravely write this review because we own 2 restaurants and go out to eat quiet a lot and never in a million years have I seen service like this or such a dysfunctional manager.
- Pros: decoration
- Cons: service/food
