Mac & cheese
by Lchang69
This place has the best mac & cheeze. I'm a beer girl and the beer here is great. Only downside is that if you want to stretch after a meal there isn't a lot of room as its more like a restaurant.
- Pros: Best Mac & Cheeze, great beer, food is above average
- Cons: gets tight with crowds, not enough hang out space
Get your friends and grab a beer!
by gripdxd
This is a great place to grab a few beers and hang with friends. The outdoor seating is great and the prices are good too! It's a great place to socialize and hang. Lots of fun in the summer. Lots of beer varieties too! I really enjoyed it. It a busy place, so it maybe hard to snag seating. Fun place for happy hour as well.
- Pros: Beer, Seating, Casual, Free spirted & Food
- Cons: Busy
Great date spot
by haleypaul

- Pros: food is awesome
- Cons: can be pricey
Great place, stamps have to go
by Druski
Great bar, amazing burgers, great atmosphere, great beer selection. However, everyone I have been with is unanimous that the stamp system (were you are id'ed at the door and get a stamp but then must reveal the requisite number of stamped patrons for each alcoholic beverage purchased EVERYTIME throughout the night) must go. It is lame, it is underage dance party stuff. I can go around the corner to another bar and be treated like an adult - get a new system or become regarded as the training wheels bar. It would be a shame, all the other ingredients are there.
- Pros: Great food and beer
- Cons: Army style enforcement of stamps
Favorite bar in the city
by Mikenobi
Spitzer's corner's has got communal seating, 40+ beers on tap, and awesome pub grub... what else could you want? In the summer they open up their windows right onto the street. not too shabby
- Pros: communal seating, plenty on tap, great fries
- Cons: the occasional hipster drops in
Beer choices galore, good burgers & pickles
by lizzyred8
Spitzer's corner is a great place to go with friends for some beers and burgers. The front of the place offers communal tables, whereas the back offers a more private setting. Order a bucket of pickles and some beers while you wait for your food and you will be all set. The burgers are quite good, and the option of a fried egg really adds tons of flavor. I'll definitely go back.
- Pros: Burgers, Beer selection, Pickles, Staff
- Cons: What are the drawbacks?
pretty deccent spot

A Blessing to the L.E.S.

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! This place...I dont know what the hell this other guy is talking about. Ive never once had a bad experience at Spitzers and I come here constantly. The manager and the bartenders are always so sweet and accommodating. I have friends of a variety of colors and everyone has been treated wonderfully. They are super strict with their ID policy but its also their job. I bartend in New York so I get it. Spitzers is truly a gem!
- Pros: Great Beer Selection, Friendly and Knowledgeable Staff
- Cons: No liquor but they said they're trying to change that
Great Beer Selection but..
by iayestaran
great beer selection, one of the best in town, though I passed by it just last week and it appears that a certain city department has close it down. There were yellow notes on the windows that read the establishment had been closed. too bad as it was a great hang out for beers after work.
- Pros: great beer selection good space love
Good bar but poorly run...and victim of its own success
by myork
Spitzer's is a very bar in a fun area. Great selection of beers on tap and bottle, nice minimalist decor. Too bad I will avoid it on weekend nights for the following reasons: 1. It is overrun by the young upper east side crowd..lots of baseball hats and cute young preppy girls (wait a minute, that's a good thng...). And they'll ALL trying to get a drink! It's like they all got on a bus at Dorian's and it dropped them off on Rivington. What a nightmare. 2. Because of supposed underage drinking citations they've received the poor bartender has to see an i.d. for ever beer she/he gives out. Never mind that you opened a tab and have been previously served several beers for your friends...she still has to see who she's serving. The back bar did not have someone working back there. They did have a server taking orders back there though...he explained that b/c of the citations and having two exits in the back room the bartender has to card everybody. The girl working the bar last friday did her best but was understandably exasperated at points. She needs to pour drinks, not hasslbe people over id's. Let her do her job. So, dear owners of Spitzers, here'es how to fix this place: Please put a bouncer or two at the front door checking id's. Get another bouncer at the back doors. OR, just lock on back door and get a bouncer for the remaining open door. And get a bartender at the back bar! It'll hopefully draw the crowd to the back instead of the crap-show at the front bar. Yeah, extra staff will cost more $$ but I bet you make it up when the bartender pours more beers as opposed to me leaving and spending my $$ elsewhere! I'd love to come back, but under the right conditions:) Respectfully yours...
- Pros: great beers, chill atmosphere, corner location in LES
- Cons: lame crowd, lack of service
