I'm trying to figure out what I should do: list all the things I liked about this place, or all the things I disliked. The former would be much easier, because then I could stop writing now and go to sleep. But that wouldn't help anyone, so I guess I have to go with the latter. This place $UCKS. And not only does it $uck, it used to be AWESOME -- and so by $ucking, it hurts twice as bad. We first went to Spitzer's a few months ago. Hands down, the best steak and eggs I've ever had. Hanger steak cooked medium-rare to perfection. Tender and delicious, the meat fell apart in my mouth. Got the side of sourdough toast, which tasted like they flew it in from San Fran that morning, and was accompanied by fresh high quality jellies in little metal bowls. And to top it off, some of the best coffee I've had in NYC. Thick and strong, I had 2 cups too many. In sum, way above par for a NYC brunch. The service and attention to detail ensured we'd be going back. We did. Can you say "change of management"? Everything was different. The steak and eggs is OFF the menu. Where is the emoticon for me crying? Coffee tasted weird, but probably because halfway through the meal the waiter realized he was using the same container for the coffee as he was for the syrup. Customers all day were getting caffeinated pancakes. These flapjacks got me WIRED honey! I got the BLT&E (E for eggs) and it was unremarkable and insignificant. My friend got the same thing and told me the bread was so toasted it cut the roof of her mouth. Her husband mouthed "I'm starving" to me after his meal. I also ordered the sourdough toast, in the vein hope of salvaging the operation. No dice. I'm pretty sure they used white Wonder bread, and it came with those pre-packaged jellies that you get on the damn airplane. To be fair, if you’re single, this is a cool joint at night. But if it’s daylight and you’re looking for food, you’ll be happier with the shawarma stand across the street.

Cons: Food, service
