AMAZING FOOD

by pancake325

I had a business meeting at Zaitzeff last week and my meal was truly amazing. First of all, Id like to mention that I am a cheeseburger connoisseur--a cheeseburger and fries is my very favorite meal--therefore, I know a good hamburger. This was not only a good hamburger, but actually the best ive ever had!! It truly was as good as a burger can get. I ate the burger without the bun and I was truly beside myself at it's flavor and how lean it was. Then I ate the bun afterwards and it was almost as good as the hamburger!! I also had a mixture of regular and sweet potato fries and they were perfectly crispy and delicious and were as perfect as the hamburger. I am so thankful that I discovered Zaitzeff and will definitely be going back SOON!! Oh...and the prices were amazing, too!!!

  • Pros: Best cheeseburger and fries ive ever had

Great space, excellent turkey burger, Perf place for a party

by ktyler

Whoops- wrote this under the downtown spot- don't know how to delete it. The reviewer that wrote the editorial piece sure is angry? Weird. I have been to Zaitzeff's many times; used to order from the downtown spot when we lived there, and now go to the East Village restaurant. I love the charm of the space, that it is family-run, and as a non-beef eater, the turkey and veggie burgers. The sweet potato fries are divine, and you sort of feel healthy eating them. We actually had my husband's bday party here and the space was perfect- the bar gives you a place to congregate for drinks, and the upper platform is private without feeling shut out. When we were discussing the party, Zach's mom insisted on making a cake for him, which was so kind- not something you bump into that often in NYC!

  • Pros: quality ingredients, great place to hang out, good bar, atomsphere
  • Cons: need more apps, and desserts

An East Village burger spot with hefty prices worthy of its Financial District origins.

by Justin Hartung

The Scene
Crowds don't seem to have found this second outpost of the Financial District burger joint, lending it an emptiness reminiscent of Wall Street on a Sunday. Another hint at its downtown origins: The swanky silver candelabras that dot the white-walled and wood-filled room.

The Food
Call it the zeitgeist: The age of the $16 burger is firmly upon us, and Zaitzeff's entry is a half-pounder made with Kobe. But when it comes overcooked and lacking beefy flavor, you're better off sticking with a so-last-century sirloin burger, a quarter-pounder served on a Portuguese muffin (surprisingly similar to the English variety). It's tough going for cow-abstainers, as the roasted turkey club is a bone-dry miss, the veggie burger bland and mushy. Sweet potato fries, crisp and cut to just the right thickness, almost make up for it.

Hits: The room is definitely a more pleasant place to nosh than your usual burger joint.

Misses: The menu's centerpiece doesn't live up to its lofty price tag.

great burgers- really called Zaitzeff not 18 avenue B - thats the location

by dreamin0001

went here last night- it was mad packed! The food was amazing. I had a kobe burger on a portugese muffin- which was 2 die for. The ingrediants are all fresh - no soggy food here. The place is very classy- black and white, marble on bar, candles at night, jazz music- great date place or family place. Killer breakfast/bvrunch menue ( though there is not that much to choose from) bloody marys and mimosas, egg sandwhiches all amazing. Ive eaten here 3 times now. i highly recommend it just realize its not the fastes service but it is defintly worth the wait. - really cute bartenders... nice owners, just an all around cute little spot on the les. im defintley going back

  • Pros: great fresh organic food, clean, good music
  • Cons: a little slow but worth the wait!
