Went on a Tuesday night, had the market special - a grilled branzino with raisins, sweet onions, kale? and little slices of lemon and garlic. It was so terrifically well done I wanted to lick the plate. Also the monkfish dish was very good, but not a standout. The crabcake appetizer was also excellent. The wine was superb but too pricey. The staff is pretty rude, especially the hostess, but i think i ll be going back just for the food. It is hard to get top-notch fish in this city (that s not lathered in butter and bacon or transmuted into a foam, Bernardin-style). Simple is best with fish, and this chef clearly knows how to do simple very well.

Pros: Superb seafood dishes

Cons: Rude staff

Market table pays their attention to detail. Great decor, polite service, excellent food! The lamb shank is divine! Very interesting wine selecion. I am not sure about the concept of the place, but it works out very pleasantly :)

Pros: great decor, food and service

Well...let me begin by telling you that my boyfriend and I tried to go to market table 3 times before we finally "got in." The first time was on a tuesday night and we had no res (so we left), the second on a sunday night at 10pm and Mikey Price, the chef, was leaning on the display case and said and smirked at the same time, "we stopped serving already." That alone left a bad taste in our mouth, so we continued on to have a nice evening at blue ribbon bar (Im sure they would have liked to have our $350 check). Finally we got in! and on a friday night at 9pm...it was empty! There was no atmosphere, no energy, and the service was pretty much non-existent. Ok...so besides the stale bread we were served....i will report that the entrees were delicious. Lamb shank and monkfish were both cooked perfectly and the hush puppies also very tasty. We were pretty much ignored the whole time we were there, while observing the bartender and hostess giggling in the corner. Our server seemed arrogant and disinterested when she informed us "the bread is pre-cut, so by the end of the night it gets a little tough" what?!! How can you tell a customer that....they should be embarassed.

Pros: good entrees

Cons: bad service, stale bread

Went here last night and had the tasting menu. I must say we were very impressed. We had to wait about ten mins past our reservation for a table but the maitre d was friendly and attentive and made sure we had cocktails while we waited. We were seated at a corner table and the ambience/decor of the place was lovely but dress warmly b/c the window seats are drafty in the winter. The food was amazing. Each course outdid the last. I highly recommend the gnocchi with escarole and short rib. My boyfriend and I agreed that it was the most delicious thing we've eaten in a long time and we know how to eat! All in all, the service was friendly, our water glasses was never empty and the food was honestly incredible! What a great neighborhood spot- we will definitely be headed back soon!

Pros: Amazing food, great ambience/decor and friendly service

Cons: Drafty by the windows- wished I had a scarf!

Lamb shank is the best in the city as far as I'm concerned. However, on both of my two visits wait staff was not so much incompetent as invisible. (And it's not that big a place!) Fortunately, the busboy is amazing -- water glasses are always full -- very accomodating; picks up a lot of of the slack -- he should be promoted!

Pros: Very good food. Excellent busboy

Cons: Waitstaff is incompetent and invisible

a far better use of real estate, this fantastic restaurant takes the place of the dirty, grubby, exhausted looking shopsins. the kitsch there never did it for me. everything about MT is wonderful. a fabu brunch spot. great windows and nice staffers. carmine needed another gem and i think this one will be here for awhile. dont worry though grey dog. we wont forget you!

Pros: windows, brunch, tasty

Cons: the wait will likely only be increasing

I think this place is fantastic, but it's impossible to get a reservation for dinner. That's why you should stop by for lunch. We had no problem walking in and sitting down. Try the burger - it's heavenly...

there were ups and downs with the food.. bacon-wrapped scallops overcooked but short rib gnocchi was amazing. the beet salad was great but the codfish was beyond bland. i agree that the reservation policy was a bit weird.. couldn't get a reservation but walked in to a 3/4 full dining room.. and the reservationist didn't even mention that they leave tables open for walk-ins (we were positive we weren't going to get a seat). the server was great: sweet, not too "present" and helpful with wine selections. great wines by the glass and a space so cute i can't wait to go again even though the food was a little pricey and only "pretty good".

Pros: gnocchi, space, server

Cons: reservations

Insider Tips

What to Drink

The cocktail menu is terrific, affordable (many drinks clock in at under $10) and includes concoctions made with unexpected ingredients like Manischewitz and PBR. The $8 Boqueria tastes like a cold, refreshing version of Scandinavian gloog.
