The Absolute Beginner Hip-hop class is amazing! Although I have always wanted to take a dance class, I have been realy reluctant because I always feel like even the beginner classes look difficult and intimidating. Jessica has an amazing way of starting you out very simply and building your skills while she builds your confidence. It is a very relaxed and fun atmosphere that keeps me coming back! I highly recommend this class for a lot of fun and a good workout as well!

Shockra offers a variety of great classes. I took a beginners belly dancing class and I'm not the fastes learner. The instructor was so patient and supportive it made me feel right at home. I've signed up for the salsa, hip hop and pole dancing classes. You get more than your monies worth and you walk out of class feeling great about yourself. You're having so much fun working up a sweat and learning new moves time flies by. I could spend hours in that studio and I hate to exercise! If you want to learn new moves Shockra is the place for you. If you want to burn calories in a fun way with great instructors and cool people, Shockra is the place for you. Try one class and you'll be hooked! These classes are great!

Pros: The class sizes are small and everyone wants to have fun.

Cons: The studio is a studio apartment so if you come early you have to wait outside until class is ready to begin.

SHOCKra offers enough room to enjoy your lesson and your practice. In dance, the floor is also important. Their floor is very accommodating for turning and then you can take it from there. Hey, SHOCKra rocks!

Shockra Arts is a studio in the Murray Hill section of Manhattan that offers a medley of classes at various times throughout the day to satisfy your curiosity. Very professional and non intimidating environment where the instructors are very knowledgeable and passionate about their field of expertise. Broaden your horizons and take a few classes in the different disciplines. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

Shockra Studio offers an excellent hip hop dance program geared towards the complete novice. Iv been attending classes for about 3 months and its always a lot of fun. The instructor Jessica Hayden has a lot of positive energy and you can really tell she has a passion for what she does. She good at breaking the steps down and repeating the movement until you can grasp it. Though some times things can get overwhelming, you quickly learn that there's a method to the madness. She has no problem answering questions, even giving extra help once class is over. The classes are between one and a half to two hours depending on which one you take. The price varies on what class you take, but comparing to other schools and factoring in her willingness for you to learn, its a bargain. Highly recommended for any one looking to learn but aren't sure where to start..

Pros: Great instructor at a great price.

Cons: One negative thing is on some rare occasions a lot of people show up to class making it tough to move like you want to and not have to worry about hitting some one.

I went to Jessica's Advance Beginner's Hip-Hop class this past Friday with some friends for the first time and am looking forward to going again every week from now on :P Jessica makes the class super fun with her humor and cool moves. SPREAD THE WORD! See you guys soon! : >

I've taken a few dance lessons here and there, but I have to tell you Shockra Studios was a very good experience. In one night they had me doing the Merengue, Bachata, and Salsa. Good people, very entertaining, and best of all if you want to you'll learn, and it won't cost you an arm and a leg. Because you'll need them to dance the night away.......Jim

I have been taking absolute beginner hip hop classes with Jessica for the past few months and she totally helped me overcome my fear of getting on the dance floor! I would always watch people dance from the sidelines but never had the courage to try it myself before I started with Jessica. She started off very slowly (tapping my foot to find the beat) and before I knew it I was actually dancing! She has such positive energy and enthusiasm, and truly gives individual instruction even though it is a small group setting. She is also very dedicated to her classes and spends extra time after class answering questions and giving more personal instruction. It truly is worth every penny!!

Pros: Excellent classes for absolute beginners with no experience, great instructors!

this studio has such a great energy to it, which includes the instructors and the people that come here. I have never felt more comfortable in a dance studio in which I was encouraged to keep dancing. being that i don't dance often, i am now more comfortable to do so in a public setting. the hip hop class i took broke down isolations which helped become the basis for others things taught to us. i highly recommend this dance studio to people of all ages, shapes and sizes, because it's non intimidating to us beginners. I am now inspired to keep on coming until i can bust a move on the dance floor at the next office outing. can't wait to show the surprise lessons i've been taking to my co-workers.. clear the floor everyone !

I'm from long island but spend most weekends in the city, and found this is an awesome place to stop by before friday night. I don't know much about dancing at all but the atmosphere is great, and the class on friday really gets me ready for clubbing at night. The price is a true bargain and I highly recommend it, regardless of your level. Miguel

Pros: When you're there you really find yourself learning new things and it's exciting.

Cons: I wish they had more activities to put your skills to the test.
