DEFINITELY NOT POPPING AT POPBURGER

by tjd09 at Citysearch

We went for dinner on friday and it was the worst! Our waitress was the ditziest thing ever! I asked 4 times for a straw and ultimately, had to get up and get it myself....A different server took our order since ours was all over the place like a chicken with no head...When the food arrived, my order was mysteriously forgotten and I had to watch my friends eat while waiting for them to bring my order....one of my girlfriends asked for a glass of water, only to have it slammed on the table by our server....at the end, We paid the $170 check and I had to ask for my change back-I guess she assumed even after her crappy service, she deserved the $30 change to be her tip...i begged to differ....she then had the audacity to approach me as we were leaving to ask if there was a problem with the service...A problem? try several...If the'yre going charge soooo much for burgers, fries and milkshakes, the least they can do is properly train the wait staff....I won't be going bakc there and would NOT receommend this place to anyone...Sooo NOTworth it.

  • Cons: servers are lousy, overpriced food and drink

Total dissapointment

by CSMobileUser at Citysearch

I ate at the take away counter downstairs and I definitely don't get the hype. The burgers were pre-cooked sitting an a warmer already in a box. Wilted lettuce luke warm burger and a stale bun. The onion rings were already made and getting cold, not to mention the fact that there worse than the ones you get in the freezer section at a normal store. I love burgers, so this experience was such a bummer

I don't get it either?

by uniblab at Citysearch

The previous 2 reviewers nailed it on the head so let me elaborate a little. I drop lots of money on NYCs overpriced food, but $30 For a shrimp sandwhich, a shake, a soda, a fries and 2 3oz sliders-at a takeout counter. When I drop $15 per person on fast food, "high class" or not, I should leave full.

The burgers were nothing to scream about; they cook a batch and they sit until they're ordered and had some 1000 islandish sauce soaked soggy lettuce. The fry oil had that flavor of a thousand meal flavor.

The place is wanna be trendy. Ordering really was confusing; I mean put a menu on the wall. Worst of all, the staff was poor and the meal took forever. The place is next to Berdoffs; get some service for heavy price tag.

  • Pros: I like that wood facade
  • Cons: bad Food, Overpriced, bad service

$13 for sliders?????

by lever7 at Citysearch

I don't get this place. $13 for 2 sliders, fries and a coke is just absurd. Better to spend you money at Goodburger even though it is pricey too at least you feel like you are getting a full meal. If they lower the price I would recommend, add a star if you are a hipster lol

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: pricey

Confusing; wanna-be hip; better alternatives

by CEabc123 at Citysearch

Ordering is confusing. There's no menu board or signs with the menu available; there are just a few pieces of paper scattered around the counter that you have to pick up to order- which means that you have to leave your place in line, go pick up a piece of paper with the menu on it, and hope that you can get your place back. I and a friend I was with had to ask people in line where they got the paper with the menu listed.

The wait is long, even if there are just a few people in line.

The burgers are good and attractive but are small; 2 for $6. The onion rings are very good.

My order was messed up- perhaps due to the loud rap music blaring, the guy taking my order couldn't hear well.

No way am I going back, despite pretty good food. Five Guys is a much better value, just a few blocks away, and isn't wanna-be hip or confusing (and no loud rap music).

  • Pros: Good burgers and sides
  • Cons: Confusing ordering; slow; fast food shouldn't try to be "hip"

Great food, sub par counter service

by kdmac at Citysearch

Tried Pop Burger for the first time at lunch today. Bad counter service made for a shaky start but the food (cheeseburgers and fries) was awesome. They should think about training their staff to be a bit friendlier at the register because a few people came in and walked right out without eating.

  • Pros: GREAT food, good music
  • Cons: counter staff

Arriving in pairs and with a hip pedigree, high-style hamburgers hit Midtown.

by Contributor at Citysearch

In Short
An offshoot of the Meatpacking District post-clubber hangout, POP Burger aims for office workers, Apple store shoppers and late-night revelers (in the upstairs lounge). With its high-modern design, the downstairs counter is cool but confusing: Customers tend to stand around cluelessly without knowing where the line begins. The burgers come in pairs, little five-bite twins lined up in a box. Non-beef options include grilled chicken or fried shrimp sandwiches, thicker-than-usual shakes and an actual salad or two.

Bad Service!

by tamcat at Citysearch

The food was mediocre, the staff were obnoxious and rude, and need a lesson on when and how to take out the trash.

Great Friday Night Afterwork place

by MikeMcg at Citysearch

I go there with my friends every Friday afterwork. The burgers are always fresh and juicy. We usually hang out at the bar. The bartender - a beautiful and really fast check girl - makes the best Mojitos in the City!!!! We will be there next Friday again!!
