Outrageously impressive
by cheetohsaddict
This is my new favorite in NY. Attentive service, never hovering, and very friendly. The menu was balanced, and everything on it is realistic, but artistic. The ambience is perfect for nice conversation and this is the ideal date spot!
- Pros: Perfect menu, excellent service, great ambience
Overpriced Experience
by 2VillageGirls
Ok Girlfriends and Guyfriends this is not going to be pleasant. Simply put: Expensive and bad service. The design and decor is excellent, however, just look from the window. Once you go in you are subject to high prices, little to show for it and staff who are focused on their own needs and not that of the customer. I remember seeing little dots of cheese on the plate and a liver pate that had no taste. Sorry folks, but I do not recommend this restaurant. It left me feeling cold.
- Pros: Decor, Design
- Cons: Everything else.
Delicious Food, Great Service
by Msrojas
Went with a friend on a Friday night. We made a reservation but we were a bit late. Which was no problem. They seated us right away. The host and hostess were very sweet. As was our waiter. Some of the best service I've had in NY. I ordered the pork which was delicious. The chef also sent out two amuse-bouche (one-bite) dishes. Nice decor as well. Will be going back with my mom and sister this week for a repeat hopefully!

Sucked. Made and confirmed a reservation for 4 people and when we arrived the reservation was only for 2 people. We left otherwise had to wait 1 hr for the next available table for4. This place was a waste of time. Not worth it.
exquisite food - beautiful restaurant - not cheap!

My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed bar Blanc. We didn't find it too noisy at all. Our food was carefully composed and had deep flavor. The black cod dish was one of the best fish dishes Ive had in New York. We thought the Porcelet was also well-prepared. Our service was good and knowledgeable, however we didn't care for their outfits, which resembled old tuxedo shirts. Overall great experience, but bring your wallet - its not a bargain by a long shot. Good night out though.
- Pros: food, food, service, location
- Cons: value
MAKE SURE TO WEAR YOUR EAR PLUGS!!!
by marcusltl5
The most memorable thing about Bar Blanc is the noise level my ears are still ringing this morning. I decided to try this spot one night while dining solo and ate at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and provided excellent service. I started with the warm scallop appetizer which was very good borderline excellent. However my main course of Black Cod was pale in comparison. I also felt it was on the pricey side weighing in the atmosphere, neighborhood and food. A one time wonder for me with Bar Blanc.
- Cons: Noisey, Dragonlady-esque hostess
Great experience

Bar Blanc was the eating experience I had been yearning for for sometime. It is owned by a consortium of old Bouley employees and is a pleasant mix of Bouley standard and downtown atmosphere. My guest and I were greeted as we walked in the door and were offered to check our coats. We were then ushered a short walk to our table about halfway down opposite the ba...

Mediocre at best
by jwhc
For all the hype, this is kind of a disappointment. I made a reservation because I read so many food critics positive review of this place. The decor was impressive. However, the food was at best mediocre. The mains were salty. The desserts were weird with odd ingredients that made some parts of one dessert ok and others not so much. We were also forced to buy bottle water which they freely opened for us. Our tab turned out quite expensive for a meal with no alcohol.
A milky-themed decor meets New American cuisine that's anything but milquetoast.

The Scene
"White noise" is the most fitting phrase to describe the blanc-on-blanc room, where diners might feel like they are sitting in a cloud. A snowy marble bar, alabaster brick walls and chalky stone tables provide a pallid palate, with chrome lamps adding the silver lining and cocoa-colored wood bringing earthy warmth. Bring your own ear horn, however: A racket more fit for a pub resounds throughout.
The Food
Cesar Ramirez's (ex-Bouley) menu rises well above the ruckus without resorting to loud flavors. Orange zest and chutney subtly boost a jumbo scallop, and a duo of tuna--meaty confit and citrusy sashimi--comes together with ponzu, black truffle and miso undertones. Pig head terrine and cinnamon-spiked jus underscore the richness of porcelet (roasted baby pig), and four cheese ravioli with chanterelles is as an uncomplicated comfort as expected. Desserts, however, like a common bittersweet chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream, don't have anything new to say.
Hits: One of the best amuse bouches in town: mini brioche with brie and white truffle.
Misses: That darn din, and the occasional menu misfire such as a bland ginger-roasted snapper.
