In the presence of professionals

There is something about Padre Figlio, which just tells you they know what they are doing. It starts with the hostess, who greets you by name even though you have never been there before and have not announced yourself. The Maitre D’ proceeds to announce the voluminous specials of the day, including the ingredients and the method of preparation…just so.
We were not interested in just beef, I wanted to see what the chef can do and even this jaded New Yorker was impressed. Some of us started with a wonderful tricolor salad topped with slivers of Romano cheese. I had a pickled eggplant and mushroom mélange wrapped in radicchio with gobs of freshly made buffalo milk mozzarella, still warm and silky smooth. Ah…yes
Pasta is the reason for Italy’s existence and my judgment is strict and unforgiving. I am not sure what they called my dish. It was a variation of Spaghetti Matricana. Home made spaghetti perfectly al dente, with pancetta (unsmoked bacon), onion, and garlic with slices of filet mignon in an excellent tomato sauce topped with ricotta. The serving was so large, I cancelled my next course. Also at the table was home made lobster ravioli with large chucks of lobster and a perfectly grilled mediterrain sea bass.
It’s a rough life, but someone has to do it and I am volunteering for your share at Padre Figlio.
Dinner for four was $ 250 with a tip. But I noticed that they have a limited menu prix fixe dinner at $ 35. I am definitely going back to try it

One of the best places in New York
by Deveeight
I went there to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. I must say I was rather impressed with the menu, Not to fancy but not to ordinary either. The food was fantastic as well as the tiramisu which I highly recommend. The service was great not on top of you but not away from you that you couldn't find the waiter. I highly recommend this spot as a great place for a romantic dinner with your significant other
- Pros: Food and Service
- Cons: None that I can think of
Perfect Italian..

This is my first review to citysearch. The absolute best food I've had in NY. Worth the wait and the price. I had the lobster ravioli which amazingly melted in your mouth. The service was gracious and prompt. If I could afford it, I'd eat there all the time!
Very Good Restaurant

We were hoping the food was going to be as nice as the restaurant itself.....we weren't disappointed. I had a fantastic steak and my wife had some delicious pasta. The wine list was exceptional and the service was excellent. We'll definitely be back.
- Pros: Food, Wine, Service, Ambiance
Excellent dining experience!
by jaisunshine
From the moment you walk into the charming looking place you are welcomed by everyone from the bartender to the host/owners. The host Mario and Antonio were very eager to let me know all the specials in such details that I felt I was cooking the meal with them. No surprise the pasta was excellent (try the lobster ravioli- its out of this world). All in all this is a great place to take your boss or boyfriend. It?s delicious and reasonably priced, and will fit for any occasion.
- Pros: Walks ins are welcomed and they deliver!
- Cons: Hard to park on the streets, but there's a garage a block away.
Despite its proximity to the U.N., this eastside steakhouse stays true to its owners' Italian heritage.

In Short
The padre and figlio in question are the father and son team who operated Da Antonio for years. The've settled comfortably into their new, upscale Italian steakhouse, located about as far east as you can go before your hat floats. The richly appointed, dimly lit room boasts trompe l'oeil bookshelf wallpaper, jewel-tone fabrics and low ceilings like a grotto in Rome. Owners Mario and Antonio Cerra warmly welcome displaced Da Antonio regulars, international negotiators and eastsiders grateful for the extensive menu that features pastas, steaks and Italian classics, as well as more adventurous entrees like boar, buffalo and ostrich.

I believe this restaurant is FANTASTIC! The food is amazing and the someone is always attentive to your table. Antonio and Mario recite the specials with such a passion that you want to order every one of their tasty specialities. I have to been to many restaurants around New York and this is my new favorite. Anyone with taste will be amazed!

A real gem in the UN neighborhood

A real gem in the UN neighborhood. The great food is matched by attentive service. The menu being personally delivered by Tony is a highlight. The fresh fish specials are always my wife's favorites. Don't be afraid to let the staff guide you on selections.
- Pros: Food and service
- Cons: far east side
