I love this place! This southern French cuisine oriented, located in the heart of MPD, has got to be the best place to be at right now in NYC. The music is very European and fun, the dishes are exquisite and the service is very friendly.
- Pros: great ambiance, food and service

I enjoyed a wonderful meal at Bagatelle last week. The menu is what you would expect from a classic French bistrot, and everything I ordered was done perfectly. From the terrine de foie gras (decadent) to the roasted salmon with asparagus and lemon sauce (light and refreshing), the whole experience was a treat. You couldn't have a more beautiful room, so clean and elegant with white linen and crystal chandeliers. The staff (and yes, they're all beautiful people) are also incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. I know brunch is a big thing there, but I would highly recommend stopping by for dinner!

We have been to Bagatelle a few times and it just keeps on getting better. The scene, the food ,and the staff are truly all great. It can be a little expensive but thats only becuase you want to stay and drink there for hours. If you want to go for a party? Go for brunch on Saturday's everyone there is having so much fun I honestly feel bad for people who don?t know about it. Try the French toast for brunch its delicious.
SHAME ON THIS DISGUSTING PLACE!

I will NEVER go back to BAGATELLE again.
My friends and I had made a 7:30pm reservation for 5 on a thursday night to celebrate a friends birthday.
Consider us a nice great looking group of girls.
When I first walked in to the restaurant I was pleasantly surprised by the large amount of Euro Trash lingering around the restaurant.
Of course we got seated next to a group of rowdy, obnoxious little boys who thought they were too cool for words.
We were stuck at a table in a corner that was right next to the side of the bar that the waiters use to transfer over drinks.
I think i may have counted that it was around 10x that I got knocked in the head, face or some other part of my body by several waiters.
Wait...it gets better.
After finishing what I thought to be the most VILE MEAL I have ever eaten, we received our bill and paid it with no complaints.
We continued to sit and enjoy our company before the host of the restaurant came over to us and asked us to leave because he had another party to seat. We proceeded to tell him that we were entitled to continue sitting there as there was no time limit on our reservation when we made it, not to mention we were no where near ready to leave as we had still intended on ordering more drinks.
Before we knew it, our waiter told us that if we didnt leave he would call the owner..so we told him to do so.
You would think that an owner of a restaurant would be kind and accomodating?? NOT.
The owner of the restaurant came over to us and said "Ladies, Im sorry we asked to talk your chairs but now Im taking your F------ table" and literally pulled the table away to another space and left us sitting in our seats.
We were baffled, mortified, but most of all disgusted.
His name was AYMERIC CLEMENTE and was the most disgusting human being I have ever seen.
Shame on him and this nasty place for their crappy food and service, not to mention ettiquite.
Expensive scene but not unique

Bagatelle for dinner has good energy and a typical crowd mix for an expensive scene restaurant. It doesn't do anything badly, but is not memorable by itself. I have eaten that menu in a similar room in 50 places in NYC. There is no reason not to go, but there is no reason to go back. A $17 mojito and a wine list that starts at $85 and gets drinkable at $125 must live up to a high standard. It's in a cool location but the competition is fierce and I didn't find a hook.
- Pros: location, crowd
- Cons: price, not unique, tight tables

Once again Bagatelle gets pushed to the front of my list. This weekend I was there twice!
On Sunday, I was searching for a place to avoid the crowds, have a civilized dining experience without the pretense of snooty faces and smug looks. I was in the area and passed by to see what was up on their brunch menu. The weather was crazy hot, but not Bagatelle (most French bistros are humid and have no breeze.) It is designed smart, with large foldout open doors giving sufficient circulation, and natural light. The menu was simple, classic French fare (we had Nicois salad and smoked salmon). Dario, server was familiar and witty. Highly suggest sitting in his section if you can. I would recommend hitting them up for brunch if you want to have a great lunch, see the meatpacking district, and avoid drama.
I went there again last night. So many things to say, but to avoid redundancy, the most appreciated was their personal attention and their security of my items. I checked in a briefcase and computer, and then went to the bar. We sat for a while waiting for friends to arrive, and then were seated near the back. It was a good table with a view. The maitre d' saw that our party grew one more than the reservation and offered to move us to a more central table where we would be more comfortable. (I was shocked! This is unheard of when a restaurant is packed, not to mention it will take more time to clean and set up the table where we were sitting.) We didn't move, but appreciated the personal attention. We finished the great food, and left. As I sat in the cab, I realized that I had forgotten my items from coat check. I called; they offered to stay until I returned for them. I opted out and went to pick them up this morning. Not only did they have them to me promptly, but they had moved them to their offices to keep them safe. (That, to me, is perfect service above and beyond!)
Thanks Bagatelle, I will definitely be back for more!
- Pros: atmosphere, clientelle, celeb sightings, consistent
Waste of Money

$17 for drinks that the bartenders don't know how to make. The place WILL be the next restaurant closing - seated promptly, took 40 minutes to get our cocktails and then 3 of them had to be sent back. Food very mediocre at best. Great people watching. Beautiful restaurant aesthetically, that's the only plus.
- Pros: Ambience
- Cons: Food, Drinks, Service, Cost of Drinks
GREAT PLACE
