Good For Special Occasions
by Moniq77 at Citysearch
Birthdays, engagements, Tuesdays, all good reasons to drop some cash at Bar Q.
The service is amazing.Perhaps the only thing they could do to further pamper you would be to chew your food for you. But you wouldn't want that, They are super knowledgeable, as they should be. They will guide you through your ordering if you desire, or leave you to your own designs, if you desire. My advice? Take their advise! As a super knowledgeable server myself, sometimes you need to sit back and let the professionals take charge.
When you have one of those special occasions, don't look at the price tag, just roll baby, just roll.
- Pros: food,friendly service
Skip Annisa and head here.
by KrissyD79 at Citysearch
Had friends in from out of town and had a great meal here. The night before they insisted on going to Annisa where the service was horrible and the waitstaff beyond rude. Just the opposite here with better prices and inventive dishes. More casual and relaxed, the food was as good (if not better?) and the staff so wonderful. Would go back anytime (and we went on a busy night and were seated promptly).
- Pros: Good food and service
- Cons: nothing really
Wonderful all-around
by restaurantette at Citysearch
The service could not have been better. They were accommodating, knowledgeable, and nice as could be, which is unusual for a New York restaurant these days. I highly recommend the spiked green bubble tea. It's really an amazing cocktail. The wine list is great as well. The oysters come with 4 dipping sauces, though not all seem "oyster appropriate." The tartare trio in avocado soup was nearly perfect. It was flavorful, though subtle. All of the ingredients were so well-balanced. I was not as impressed with the tuna ribs. They were a little spicy for me, and I thought the dipping sauce was a little much. The short rib was great, with just the right combination of Western barbeque and Korean influence. For dessert, the mochi with dipping sauce is one of the best desserts I've had. It was simple and delicious, the perfect way to end the meal. I will most certainly be going back soon!
No wetnaps or tacky bibs needed for Anita Lo's neat spin on barbecue.

In Short
Though she's serving ribs of all kinds, from tuna on the bone to spareribs stuffed with lemongrass, peanut and Thai basil, there's nothing sloppy about Anita Lo's (Annisa) take on barbecue. The ivory-accented space--featuring a white marble bar, sunny atrium and garden--plays up the woman's touch, while a raw bar and sashimi dishes cater to more delicate appetites. Some of the sauciest items, like warm sesame mochi with caramel dipping sauce, are on the dessert menu.
The Best Asian Fusion in the Village!!!!
by mike182 at Citysearch
I love the food. Me and my "pseudo bf" John went one tuesday and had a great time of authenticating this white place of modern decor - truly, a great asian fusion to have a dinner date. The wait staff is great (thanks for checking my ID for the Japense beer - made me feel very young) and the food is above expectations: I had the short rib korean style with a mixture of a peanut base noodle and he had a seared duck with sticky rice and chinese sausage. The price may be more than what you ordinarily pay in Koreatown and Chinatown - but the portion is not sacrificed for it - moreover, the sweet, succulent and spicy flavor of infused Western influence in a seemingly decorated restaurant. So, it a real thumbs up for Bar Q - with a seal of approval from my man.
- Pros: great staff, nice and friendly neighborhood, and romantic getaway with great food
- Cons: high valued dish, and seating may be very tight next door if for two
Great Food, A Bit of a Tight Squeeze
by SuzieQ123 at Citysearch
We had a great meal here. Good wine and service. The recommended fried milk was tasty, but too much 'fried' for only 2 people. I would recommend the Eggplant Miso and the oysters which came with 4 different sauces to try. Inside it was a bit crowded and noisy. I can imagine that sitting outside would be wonderful.
