The ambiance was incredible.

I went to the High Bar outdoor patio on a Wednesday night after work for drinks. The ambiance was incredible. I can't imagine a better place on a sunny day. I fear that as more people get wind of High Bar, it will be impossible to get in the door and will be a much more high strung crowd. *Sigh*... for now it has a very mellow vibe.
There's seating under a canopy in comfortable banquets, at a raised tabletop on bar stools outdoors, and at several large cabanas outdoors. The cabanas hold around 6 people and looked really comfortable. I didn't have any food but it looked like yummy generic bbq fare; burgers and hot dogs.
There was one really large cabana which could be really fun for a big group of friends. It looked like it held around 12 people. It's enclosed by ten foot high bushes or four sides, with just a small entrance exposing it to the rest of the bar.
It was a relatively young and mixed crowd, suits and hipsters alike.
The drinks are expensive. The cocktails are around $16 and come in plastic high ball glasses.
Great spot even in the rain

came here last week even though the weather was not ideal for a rooftop experience. Their indoor space is actually really cool too. My group and I had some of the food--Chips and Guacamole and my burger was awesome! a really great night despite the rain.
- Pros: pretty sunset view of hudson, intimate, indoor/outdoor space
- Cons: expensive

I am not even going to begin to explain the awful night me and my friends had at Highbar last night, but will do my best at making sure any TRUE NEW YORKER will not waste their time or money here. Unfortunately due to the awful management and DJ being so rude, what should have been a fun addition to my bachelorette party festivities basically turned a good night into a disaster! According to the DJ (who obviously was NOT from New York) there is 'no hip hop played here' so don't expect ANY good music. DJ, maybe you should make your rounds in the 20's on the West side and learn that good clubs actually play hip hop, then maybe you can actually get out of working for a club in the middle of Times Square? Set your limits a little higher maybe? I don't even know what was playing other than what I would refer to as god-awful Euro-trash TRANS techno, where the DJ literally pressed play on what was probably his Itunes library. Be wary of the security guards dressed like 'pimps' (full on HAT and pin-striped suit) as well as the tiny manager wearing pastels, who thinks he has the coolest club in Manhattan. Oh, and did I mention the bimbo 'model reject' waitresses who probably have no clue what day it is. Long story short, avoid this place if possible, and I prey it goes out of business as quickly as possible so other New Yorker's are not scammed out of a good night out.
- Pros: none
- Cons: Awful B&T crowd, tourists, management extremely RUDE!
Saturday at Highbar

We went to Highbar last Saturday and had such an amazing time. It was a group of us...roughly 20+ ppl. We didn't make any reservations but when we got there. The doorman was nice enough to accommodate our group. We ended up getting a table there since the bar was pretty busy. The service was really good no complaints on that side. The only downfall was that since the rooftop wasn't open the place was kinda stuffy. But overall we had a great time! Definitely recommend stopping by there in the spring time.
- Pros: Friendly Doorperson, Good Music
- Cons: What are the drawbacks?
Fun as hell

I had recently celebrated my 23rd birthday this weekend at Highbar. I wanted to write and thank the staff at Highbar. I had setup my birthday party through the promoter on Saturday. He help coordinate the guest list and making sure we had the private room reserved. When I got there with my friends they took care of us immediately. We didn't have to wait online. Our group was roughly about 100 ppl and everything went smoothly. I really appreciated the warm welcome I got from the staff and management there. Definitely recommend Highbar!
- Pros: Music, Friendly Staff
- Cons: Busy

I had to entertain my friends from home and decided to go to Highbar since the weather was so nice. We didn't get a chance to call for reservations but when we got to the door the door guys were nice enough to take care of us. We were surprised that our check wasn't too high at the end of the night. We got 2 bottles and they gave us a bottle of champagne (not the cheap one, it was Perrier Jouet). Everyone was really excited with the views of the skyline.
- Pros: Views, music, door
- Cons: A little crowded

I had my joint birthday party last weekend with my roommate at Highbar and I'm really glad we decided on Highbar. They were great in making sure that we were taken care of all night. The doorman sat us down and the waitress immediately brought us our bottle, etc. I would definitely recommend reserving a table...check out their party packages. It's not too pricey at all. They were also nice enough to make sure all of our guests didn't have to wait online. Overall everyone had a great time. Thanks again!
They ruined my birthday

So, i made reservations and when I asked, the guy I made them with said that holding the table would be no problem, no bottle service, no fee at the door and no minimum required. AWESOME, RIGHT? Well, think again. When we got there, the security told me that they needed a credit card for a $350 min. When I told them I was told i would have no minimum, they told me the man i booked with got fired so his word was null and void. We ended up going in, they had the tables for us so all 20 of my friends started getting cozy and ordering drinks. About an hour later, the hostess sits about 15 people- AT OUR TABLE- and I was told it was because they wanted bottle service, so our table was taken away. So we decide to leave and go to one of our regular hangouts and I go to pay the bill and they demanded $350. I told them no way, i would pay what we owed and leave. They told me that they had my credit card and would charge it, to which I responded that they should because I wouldn't sign the reciept and dispute the charge through my credit card company. Eventually I paid the $200 bill (after they gave me an itemized receipt) and we left but my night was already ruined.
- Pros: nothing
- Cons: everything from the bouncers to the service

My birthday was Highbar was amazing...I couldn't be more happy. I called earlier during the week and spoke to the manager to see what was required. He was really accommodating and just stressed the dress code for the guys. I reserved a section and ended up purchasing two bottles which wasn't too pricey. The music was really good! Overall I couldn't ask for more. Definitely a good place to have your birthday party.
- Pros: Music, Nice Manager
- Cons: Closes at 2AM
sheik, very midtown

I attended a birthday party with a couple of my friends there. it was alright. think you might get lost once you get in. going to the penthouse, and when your drunk not fun to stumble out of. but the atmosphere, the people and great service. good DJ. unfortunately the drinks on the menu started at 16$ or was 14$. either way its too dang expensive for my taste.
- Pros: atmosphere, DJ, service
- Cons: expensive, might get a little lost when drunk.
