Good margaritas!

by msdecember at Citysearch

We went after already chowing down at another establishment but the 12-7 happy hour reeled us in. I had white wine sangria (which was just OK) and then my friend couldn't finish her frozen margarita (she said it was too strong--which meant it was right up my alley) and it was really tasty.

Would like to go back one night for their Dirty Burger I'm hearing so much about.

Better than it looks

by drink_club1 at Citysearch

"I've lived on Bleecker Street for 30 years. That should give me street cred. I've also never been to this place before because it looks so B&T. But STOP that rush to judgement. It does have a lot of TVs, and more blondes than can reasonably be expected in downtown New York. And it's a bit loud. But the atmosphere is fun, and completely not intimidating. The waitresses, obviously not hired for their score on a Civil Service Exam, are friendly, efficient, and good humored... along with their other... er... obvious qualities. The food is not bad.The wings have some kick to them, and the appetizer sampler wasn't all that greasy. The tap beer selection isn't great, but you'll forgive it. Go on a rainy night so it

won't be packed. You'll have a good time. --Drink Club is a roving group of NYC Drinkers, this review by Mykel B"

  • Pros: Friendly Staff, wow waitresses, decent food
  • Cons: limited draft beers, loud, slightly jockish

I LOVE this place

by nicsynat at Citysearch

I have been to TJ's several times and I love it. The Dirty Burgers are awesome. The staff is great. They are very attentive and friendly. Even when it got really crowded the staff was always there to wait on us and make sure we had everything we needed. I tell everyone I know about this place beacuse the food is great and the atmoshpere is fun and friendly. So far all of the feedback I got from friends I told to go there was good. So whether its afternoon or evening you should check it out.

  • Pros: Great food, great service, great Atmosphere!!

Best and most unique burger in the city! DAS BOOT!

by aDillonj at Citysearch

The food is unbelievable. Dirty Burger is the best most unique burger you will find anywhere. Whoever the shmucks were who gave it one star are clearly retarded and have no taste. Definitely go and try the dirty burger and see if you can handle the boot. Girls are beautiful and love having a good time. Best time I have had in the city in long time!!!

  • Pros: Great food, great people, great neighborhood.
  • Cons: People who give it one star might show up. (Debby Downers)

Previous reviewers all must have been at same table

by sportsfan1000 at Citysearch

Funny how that the 4 previous reviews that were terrible were all within 2 days. Curious? I go to TJ all the time and think that the service is great. I for one would prefer to have music on during sunday games cause there usually is 5 different games on and its hard to hear anyway. My roommates from college always get together and have dirty burgers and boots, our new tradition. Not really into writing reviews but the previous 4 were so off based and probably from a bunch of losers from 1 table who were trying to get the waitress' phone # and got denied.

  • Pros: food is awesome. love the boots of beer

Amazing bar food

by raptornyc at Citysearch

There are several bad reviews on this site for Thunder Jackson's, which I read before stopping in myself for the first time this past Saturday. After a most enjoyable bar experience, I felt compelled to offer a much more positive opinion.

First, I had no complaints regarding the service whatsoever, despite some negative comments I read previously. We arrived at 4:30pm, just as the first NFL playoff game was starting, and stayed for both games. During the entire time our waitress was attentive, friendly and courteous. She replaced our drinks promptly and helped with several questions regarding the menu, despite a heavier crowd as the evening wore on. Definitely good service overall.

Second, the food is simply outstanding. My wife and I are huge fans of the chef, who previously owned a great Manhattan restaurant several years ago. Order the ribs and you'll be smiling for hours. Incredibly tender, meaty, and bathed in a delicious sauce. The Dirty Burger was so good that I ordered a second one before finishing the first. The beef is seasoned like none other I've ever tasted, topped with a creamy garlic sauce, steamed bun, and some great fries on the side. There are so many other dishes on the menu that I'd like to try, but it will be tough getting past that burger. So good.

Third, this is a solid place to watch sports. Several flat screen TVs made it easy to see every play, even though we were seated at a table and the crowd grew larger. Friendly people, great location (lots of other bars and music spots within walking distance on Bleecker St.), and unique wallpaper in the mens room (fellas, you'll see what I mean).

The only negatives were beer selection (they had many available, but none of my favorites), no desserts on the menu, and they ran out of red sangria before 5pm (we found that unusual for a Saturday).

Horrible Service

by jayn23 at Citysearch

I went to this sports bar this past weekend looking for a good meal while enjoying my football games and was sadly disappointed. Throughout the night I had a total of 5 waitresses because my original waitress was too busy dancing at the bar than actually working. My drinks were often neglected, my order was messed up and the worst part of the whole night was that the employees would not turn the sound on the sports game because they wanted to listen to music instead. When I asked them to turn it up, I received nothing but sarcasm and a bad attitude. Clearly the owner of this bar can not find good help out there because I'm not sure these workers even know what sports are. My recommendation is that if you see this bar and are looking for a good time, look to any of locale in the vicinity and you will be guaranteed a more pleasurable experience than a Thunder Jackson's experience. The food is not worth the service..trust me...

  • Pros: Your in the West Village and can easily get up and walk to any other bar, which will be 10 times better
  • Cons: Incompetent employees who don't know up from down

Terrible everything

by Wootfootball at Citysearch

I've never been met with such disrespectful employees as I did at Thunder Jacksons. This place is run by mentally challenged girls trying to work a sports bar. They neglected the main purpose of the bar which is to serve people what they ordered while the people watch sports. These employees could not get an order right to save their lives. Our party had to ask for drinks multiple times before we'd finally receive it. Rather than making sure the sports games could be heard, the employees thought it was more important to play a video game at the bar which involved penthouse girls. The food was not worth the terrible service. I will never recommend this place to anyone..ever...

  • Pros: You feel smarter being around the employees
  • Cons: Your food is overpriced and cold when it gets to you, the employees don't know service, and there's nothing sporty about the place

Are you kidding me

by sportsnut185 at Citysearch

I'm shocked this place got more than 1 star. In short, this place has the worst service I've had in nyc (and I've lived here for a while). The employees don't know what service is, the food is overpriced, and the "sports" appeal is NON-EXISTENT. I tried to watch the Giants vs. Cowboys game there and the asinine employees that worked there thought it'd be more appreciated to hear crappy music than the actual game. I would sooner recommend selling your kidney on the black market before ever telling someone to go to this bar. Trust me when I say you WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. Tell your friends!

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: Everything you can possibly imagine
