it was just OK

The food was ok. The waiter kept rudely interrupting our conversation right in the middle of the word. I asked him if I should have the lamb kebab or the ground beef kebab (both dishes $16), he said : "they come with 2 skewers each, so I'll just give you one of each so you can try both". That would have been great, except I was charged $26, which didn't make sense. When I asked why, he said "oh I should have probably told you the price before". The dish was good enough for a $16 entree, but not good enough for the mark up. This place is in my neighborhood, but I'm not going again.
- Pros: the dishes were pretty good
- Cons: the service left a bad taste

Experience the delectable aroma and taste of the Middle East on the Upper East Side at Shalizar -- authentic Persian cuisine at its tastiest.
Excellent food and service.

My husband and I went for our first time last weekend. Cute restaurant. The food was very tasty and nicely presented. It was nice seeing one of the owners working in the restaurant- you know it's a well run establishment when the owner is there. We had to leave unexpectedly (on-call for the hospital) and they were great about getting our food together quickly to go. Can't wait to go back again.
- Pros: Great food, friendly service.
- Cons: a little crowded
Best Middle Eastern Food in NYC!

I highly reccomend Shalizar! I went to Shalizar last night and had a wonderful meal. The food is very authentic and everything we order was amazing! Excellent appetizers and great deserts as well(loved the cherry dessert). Upscale presentation, pleasant and attentive service and moderately priced. Definitely worth the trip to the UES!
