Our local spot :-)

by meanmina nyc

Stag's Head is the local bar by my job and we affectionately call it the "pub"! Normally, we go there when things aren't going so well in the office. Food is always good, our waiteress is great and often knows when we arrive what we want to drink. That's either great service OR we have been there way too many times...probably both. Anyway, today we went with a group of 9 and all our orders were taken and arrived without even a hiccup. Really GOOD service is always important, especially during lunch and particularly in midtown! We have only had one bad experience and that was actually at the Cornerstone which is the sister bar. I don't fault Stag's Head at all. But, I would probably never go to the Cornerstone again. Thanks for letting us vent, giggle, laugh and simply enjoy lunch!

Great Neighborhood Bar!!

by Angel5143

The Stag's Head is the brother/sister bar of the Cornerstone. They share the same exact menu yet the Stag's Head is bigger. We stumbled upon this place after the Cornerstone was jam packed. No big deal!! We couldn't believe we hadn't found this place sooner. I'm looking forward to returning!

Great Pub

by jackw568

The StagsHead is the best pub in the area. The food is really good and very inexpensive especially compared to some of the overpriced places in the neighborhood. It has a really cozy bar and dining room. If your in the area you can't go wrong stopping in the StagsHead for a bite.

  • Pros: Great food, large beer selection
  • Cons: can get crowded

The Stagshead is new and I'm already a huge fan!!

The food is amazing and inexpensive, the bartenders are great. It has a large selection of specialty beers that are reasonably priced. This place is a gem.

Hungover? The Stags Head will cure you!

by doynser

Nearly blinded by a severe hangover, my friend and I decided to play hooky and try the new bar on the block for lunch. The lunch prices are very reasonable and the menu has a better choice of lunch items than the usual turkey club- corned beef and cabbage that the surrounding bars have. After checking out the beer menu -which was vast, I ordered a harpoon brown ale , which I couldn't believe was only $4! The bartender explained that they had a happy hour of all domestic beers for $4 until 6pm daily. Nothing unusual there, except that some of their domestic beers are rare choices and if you can find them in any other bar, they normally charge you out for $7-$8 a pint!

A lot happier now, we began to order lunch and had settled on the pulled pork sandwich with homemade mashed potato (the guy next to us was eating one and it looked amazing) when the blonde bartender told us that she had the perfect hangover cure for us, It was not on the menu but she persuaded us to have the Beef and Guinness pie-topped with mashed potato. She was cute and we were hungover ...so we gave in and had one each. We also had a pint of Guinness, which made our day as it was served in a 20oz CHILLED guinness glass, It also helped that the Bartender knew how to pour it properly (which is more than a few bartenders these days know!) The pies were amazing and as our hangover was subsiding we regretfully had to leave to go back to work.

The bar is unusually decorated with a large stags head hung on the wall. We have a bet with the bartender who claims one of the owners bagged it upstate. It also has restrooms located on the same floor as the bar, a big plus! We will be back again and are happy to finally have a decent bar in a heavily congested area of same-same Irish bars.

  • Pros: 20oz chilled guinness glass
  • Cons: In between 2nd and 3rd avenue, not on the beaten path

Use to be good until they changed it!

by nylisa24

I use to frequent Mica Bar after work, and loved their chic bar atmosphere. They've recently changed it, and with all the crappy bars in the area, they had to go and turn what was once a cute place into the crappiest bar of them all! My only hope is that they didn't change the cute outdoor patio bar...

  • Cons: Ambience

Always great for after-work

by marz7158

I go to Mica a lot with my coworkers when we want to have some drinks at the end of the day. We're never disappointed. I highly recommend one of the party platters as they're fit to feed a small group, and even though this isn't technically a "sushi place", their sushi is actually quite delicious. They just changed their martini list and the Mochatini is to die for. I also tried the Dulce de Leche, and it's dessert in a glass. Yum! The staff is friendly and fun, but professional so I have no problem taking clients here.

  • Pros: Great lounge environment, Just added flatscreen TVs in every room
