I appreciate Meurice!!
by Brain1184
I have been a long time Meurice customer, 22 years to be exact, and in that period of time I have not one complaint. Considering the amount of time thats pretty remarkable. They always seem to take great pride in what they do and it shows in the work. The best example of this was when had my Corneliani suit repaired by them. There was significant wear visible all around the entire jacket. I knew if there was a chance for this jacket to get its new look back I had to go to Meurice. A short period of time later I received the jacket and was more than satisfied with the result. I have only good thing to say about them. 5 stars!
Irresponsible and corrupt!
by fenie4u
I brought in 3 custom sports jacket to be cleaned for which they insisted on removing the buttons (required, they said) and charged me for removing the buttons: they proceeded to replace the buttons onto the incorrect jackets, AND LOST SOME OF THE BUTTONS!!! I normally would not care, but the buttons we're custom as well!!! GO TO WORLD CLASS or MADAME PAULETTE if you want better service, and QUALITY work!!!
Terrible Dry Cleaner
by Aminta718
They must be desperate for money. Not only did they charge my credit card without my permission, they also charged me for items that weren't even cleaned. This was a terrible experience. I would NEVER go back. Make sure you look over your bill! They claimed they have an authorization form on file, but have failed to present any such form -- because I never signed one. Totally CORRUPT!
Worst Dry Cleaner in New York
by Winifred201
This is the WORSE dry cleaner in the city. I have had several instances where I have had problems with this dry cleaners. Several years ago, I brought in a vintage pucci dress. And there was some wear under the arm. I asked them to sew up the hole. Instead of doing so, they cut out the underarm material and put in a flannel pink material -- ruining a beautiful vintage PUCCI dress. In another instance, I won a case against them in small claims and supreme court for ruining a sweater which they then tried to keep and not return to me. I had to seek injunctive relief from the Supreme Court to get the sweater returned to me. Most recently, they charged my credit card without authorization for $327. AVOID this place like the Plague!!!
WAY too expensive
by jbc257
Look, as all of the other reviews say, they do good work and they are nice people. But I'm sorry - NO amount of niceness or effective dry cleaning can justify $30 PER SHIRT. That is the base price here, with no extra care needed at all. I can purchase a NEW shirt for less than what it costs to get one cleaned here!!!
I suppose if you're getting some special vintage or sentimental garment cleaned, maybe the price is worth it. But for everyday shirts and the like, I will never return to Meurice.
Excellent!!!!!! Steve the specialist is awesome!

Meurice at University Place cleaned my 3.1 Phillip Lim red leather jacket while other places turned it down because they were afraid the red dye was going to come off. Meurice has done tons of leather cleaning and cleaning a bright red lamb leather jacket with plenty of buttons and zippers was no biggie to them. My only concern are the pins that were used to hold back the silk lining. They were thick and left holes, next time I'm going to suggest blue masking tape.
I was satisfied with the cleaning, so I brought back my Alexander Wang silk top that has been dry cleaned twice at local dry clean places. The stain on the silk remained but Meurice cleaned it right off! I was so happy with Meurice, I came back with my Alexander Suede jacket.
This place is pricey but if you paid $$$ for your clothes then you better take care of it. Plus, Steve, the cleaning specialist is one cool dude! I'll roll in the dirt for him just so I can give him something to clean!
An excellent and special service
by jtwang
I usually don't write reviews about businesses because I don't feel they need the free publicity, but when there's a service that is so exceptional, so professional, and that truly helps people with their problems and satisfies their needs, then I feel that by describing it to others , I'm doing a positive and helpful public service.
I brought in my stained and beat up $2500 Zegna coat and asked them to clean and restore it. It had leather trim and leather buttons, and I was afraid of letting the neighborhood dry cleaners ruin it. When Meurice delivered it to me a week later, it looked brand new. What I saw exceeded my expectations.
I also brought in my favorite Ralph Lauren white shirt that was stained all over with oil. I went to about five so called "high end cleaners" near me in TriBeCa, and they all said the same thing: "it's impossible to clean these kinds oil stains that have already been oxidized into fabric, even with industrial bleach; it's best to just throw it out." I almost gave up until a friend told me about Meurice Garment Care in the Village. They completely eliminated all the stains and discoloration without damaging the fabric.
Steven, the gentleman who helped me, explained everything to me, told me exactly how they treated and cared for the fabrics, and was extremely nice and informative. I felt I had superb professional service by a great staff.
Ultimately, Meurice Garment Care is not just a business, it's a special service, whose goal is to make their customers happy and satisfied. They did what nobody else could by fixing my white shirt, and they restored and cleaned my coat with the kind of care and attention that I've rarely encountered from any business or service. The bottom line about Meurice is that they understand how much you care and love your own garments, and they do their very best to solve your problems and satisfy your needs.
- Pros: Superior service and professionalism
- Cons: A little pricey, but worth it
AMAZING UPHOLSTRY CLEANING
by CleanCouch
I take all my good clothes to Meurice for dry cleaning - the manager there, Marc, is extremely kind and helpful and they do a FANTASTIC job. Naturally, when I heard these guys also clean upholstry, I called them.
They have a 20% off deal from now until the end of April 2010 too which was a bonus! The cleaners showed up on time, they were extremely polite, they did the job in a very short time, left no mess and my couch - my WHITE couch looks completely rejuvinated! I am so thrilled - these guys are the best!
- Pros: quick, excellent service, timely
- Cons: none
Wedding dress cleaning
by princessporkie
I bought my wedding dress during Filene's Running of the Brides way too early. My wedding is about 15 months away. It was stuffed in the big Filene's bag and in my closet. I did a lot of research on wedding dress preservation and came across Meurices. Boy am I glad I did. I called them and spoke with Marc. Marc is super nice. I asked for his advice and he told me the best thing to do is preserve it since my wedding is so far away and it will prevent the dress from turning color. I decided to go for it so I went in and he examined my dress and walked them through the whole process. I knew I left my dress in great hands. Marc and his staff knew what they were talking about and they did not rush me in making a decision. He told me that first they will clean the dress and fix all the loose thread ends and fix a tiny hole in the back, then they will preserve it. The dress will be wrapped in acid free paper and cloth and in a box. He said that if I wanted I can take the dress out of the box when ever I like with these special gloves they provide. It totally beats putting it in a vacuum sealed box and never ever getting a chance to see it until I am ready to take it out. I asked if I can view it before it gets preserved in the box and he was very accommodating.
My dress was ready to be viewed a week before the date Marc told me and it was super nice. I did not realize the dress was dirty until he showed it to me. The beading on the dress sparkled more than it did before and the dress was oh so nice. I love it more than ever now. I did not want to take my dress off. I left the dress again in the the staff at Meurice and I know when I go pick it up it will be perfectly preserved for my wedding day.
- Pros: great customer service. super friendly staff.
- Cons: none!
The best garment care in the city
by nthrlcy
I regretfully took my vintage white blazer to a cheap neighborhood cleaner to be dry cleaned. When I picked it up I noticed black fabric dye from the inside of the jacket bled into the front. Of course, there was nothing this idiot could do to fix his error and blamed it on his machine. I immediately took my blazer to Meurice because I had pants hemmed there before and they came out excellent. Steven was so professional and friendly, and even assured me that my jacket was in good hands. A week and a half later, I got a call that my jacket work was finished and it looked spotless. It was the truth and worth every single penny. This is the best garment care and service in the city.
- Pros: Experienced, speedy, friendly, professional
- Cons: Expensive but worthwhile
