A tiny novice-friendly mountain not far from the Big Apple.

The Scene
This bump of a hill in Mahwah, New Jersey, enjoys the distinction of being easily the closest area to New York City--18 miles from the George Washington Bridge. That's the good news. The flipside is that geography is destiny; Campgaw is about as steep as your average bowling alley.
The Slopes
The area has essentially three trails and they range from easy to easier. But that's not all bad. If you're bringing along a beginner, you need a place to practice your snowboarding or you're just sitting at your desk on a slow mid-week morning feeling the snow jones, Campgaw may just be the ticket.
