Oh How Things Have Changed.
by jeane at Citysearch
I almost always enjoy going to this particular post office, but when I heard the hours were changing after all these years, it made me realize just how 'dire' things are in our world today.
So, say "good-bye" to the '24 Hour' clock, and make way for the new (perhaps more 'normal') hours (Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m., Saturdays 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., and Sundays 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. I think I got the majority of the hours right, if not you can check the website for yourself.), just pray you don't need to mail something in an emergency for 'over night' service.
- Pros: Still Good Hours.
- Cons: Your 24 Hours Are Now Up.
phone service

They never answer the phone. You can let it ring for 1/2 an hour, and they do not answer. I had a serious issue to discuss and was unable to get it resolved.

For nonprofit bulk rates, call the Business Mail Entry at: 212.330.4225. Also, they have a separate dropoff site for nonprofit mail processing, so don't expect it to be a quickie job.
Feel like part of history by conducting your postal business at the central nervous system for the city's mail.

In Short
Residing in its current location since 1914, the majestic institution boasts its own zip code, an emergency window open 24 hours daily and a payroll of 2,500 employees. Reasons to visit include a store with collectible stamps and a museum that features mail-related memorabilia. Engraved outside the building is the pledge, "Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."
