Great spot!
by AZan
I spent last Sat. night in this hotel with 3 other girls and we rented a 2 room suite that was fully renovated and great. Very large bathroom (2-3 girls doing hair/makeup in there at once). 1 room had 2 comfy Queen beds, large closet, desk, and nightstands that all looked new. 2nd room had a couch, comfy chair and large flat screen TV with a mini fridge in the TV stand. The elevator could be slow at times but we were on the 3rd floor so we took the stairs anyway.
The front desk was VERY friendly and helpful and they all spoke English contrary to what other reviews said.
The lobby was small but very nice and the hallways in the hotel were narrow with dated carpet so I assume that some rooms are not updated but ours was and they told us all the 2 room suites were renovated. The only con was we had to lower the temp to 50 to get the AC working but then it was fine.
I would definitely come back here for this room b/c it was a great location and a great price!
- Pros: large renovated room/ friendly staff/ location
- Cons: A/C sluggish
Sleep Depravation
by mstoneff
Unlike its online description, the hotel is below average in every way. There is no lobby, the rooms are in desperate need of updating, the staff barely speaks English, and they are not willing to accommodate guest?s needs. Most frustrating was the sauna like temperature of the hotel. The rooms have individual climate controls that don?t work, and the hotel's central heater, which is not controllable from the room, was continuously blowing hot air, which hovered at 82 degrees. The room was so hot that we didn?t sleep all night even with window wide open to the winter air. After complaining I was assured that the heat would be turned down. But again and again nothing happened. On the 2nd night I was finally pushed to the point that I wouldn?t leave the front desk until they actually acted on their multiple promises. Stay here only if you want to waste your time fighting with the staff just to get a night's rest.
- Pros: Basic shelter at best
- Cons: Too many to list
At the top end of the "economy" category.

The Scene
The prices are hardly to be believed when you get a glimpse of the lobby--bright and polished, with lots of impassive, yet impressive, marble. Macy's is only a block away, so you could literally shop 'til you drop, then drop in here. For business travelers, the helpful staff can work with you to secure a laptop, cell phone or restaurant reservations. It is almost always difficult to get a room, so book well in advance.
The Details
Staging counts for a lot, and the staff here are masters of it. They make a little go a long way. The rooms come in a few different configurations; they are small but cheery, and extremely well-maintained. Sunshine streams through windows dressed with upbeat fabrics. The usual amenities include a color TV, air conditioners, small refrigerators, custom toiletries and a complimentary breakfast.

I cannot find anything bad to say about Hotel Stanford. The location is unbeatable. The hotel is right next to the empire state building, macy's and midtown. Times square is also nearby as well as numerous restaurants, many of them korean if you're into korean. The subway is outside the main door. We also had a blast with Jinho, the manager of the maxim lounge on the second floor. We stayed in a 'king deluxe' room and loved it. It was very spacious (especially for NYC) and was very economical. We had no problem with any noise...the hotel was well kept and inviting. I'd recommend staying on a lower floor if the elevator is a problem...we were on the second floor and used the stairs. In short, the next time we come to new york (unless i win the lottery), we will definately stay at the stanford again, without question.
- Pros: very clean, great room, unbeatable location
- Cons: no views
Don't go there!!!!

This has the worst service ever!! The workers there are incrudibly rude.. Go to Holiday Inn instead.. They have better service
Great Value, Great Location, Great Hotel!
by loaniebalonie
The location of this hotel made my trip to New York fabulous! Macy's, the Empire State Building, the Manhattan Mall and tons more were all walking distance from this hotel. The room I stayed in with two of my friends was spacious, clean and attractive. This hotel is truly the best bet for an amazing stay in New York City for those who are looking for the best possible location at the best price!
- Pros: great location, inexpensive, spacious rooms
Quite Nice
by bluwatersoul
I have stayed here several times over the past few years. Once you get used to the incredibly tiny hallways and elevators, you should enjoy this hotel. once I had an incredbly small room, but it was immaculate. Staff is great and attentive, rooms surprisingly quiet and this location is in the heart of midtown Manhattan. Great value!
- Pros: price, staff, location
Great hotel once we were moved away from
by Hogmodo
....noisy radiator pipes. Our first night's sleep (the room was at the back of the hotel by the fire escape) was ruined by 4 episodes of hammering-radiator-pipes from Hell. After complaining, we (and at least one other guest with the same problem) were moved to a room at the front of the hotel. The next 3 nights were perfectly peaceful and we would rate the rest of our stay as excellent. Very good breakfast pastries, convenient location, very attentive staff, etc. made the Stanford Hotel an excellent value.
- Pros: Inexpensive, Convenient Location, Attentive Staff
- Cons: Noisy Pipes-Some Rms, Slow Elevator, Narrow Halls/Stairs
