I take pilates with Tracie Matthews. I highly recommend working with Tracie. She is an AMAZING instructor. My body is completely changed--I am more toned and have better posture. Tracie is fun to work with and successfully focuses on the areas that you want to improve. The studio itself has a relaxed atmosphere and great equipment.

I do private sessions with Tracie Matthews. She's all I could possibly hope for in an instructor. She finds a way to challenge me every single class and she pays attention to every little detail. In 8 months she's completely transformed my body. I'm more flexible, my muscles are leaner and longer, I'm more *aware* of my body. Pilates isn't a fad, it isn't just for women (I'm male), and it isn't easy. It is a way to strengthen and tone your body, to connect your muscles and bones, to unify your mind and body, to challenge your physical (and in a sense mental) limits. And I can't imagine anyone guiding you through it better than Tracie.

I feel like it's all about me and my body when I'm there. I's not like some of the pilates studios in town where you feel like a number or a check. The staff makes me feel comfortable and secure. I have learned so much about the mechanics of my body. My posture, flexibility and strength have greatly improved. I can't possibly recomend it highly enough.

I definitely recommend Kim F. as an instructor. I have gone to KIm for almost all of my sessions, and her compassion for the client coupled with her passion for what she does really shines. Have one session with her and you'll request her every time!

I'm a big fan of the tower and reformer classes. The classes are small and every teacher I've had has been very considerate and knowledgeable.

  • Pros: tower/reformer, small classes, great teachers

I've taken classes with Roxlyn Moret and Doris Hall and Lesley Powell and they are all fabulous. Their classes are light hearted in atmosphere, but very focussed on how to use the body correctly. A change in how I put weight on my feet, which Lesley showed me, helped clear up the pain in my knees when I ran. They all make sure you do movements to push the limits of your body, and no more. And Lesley will make you laugh, even while you sweat.

I love the instructors and the atmosphere at Movements Afoot. The teachers are highly trained, dedicated, creative and caring. I would strongly recommend anyone with an interest in pilates, yoga or other mind-body techniques schedule a session or take a group class. The teachers there helped me tremendously and I'm sure they will help you too.
