Best Turkish Place Ever! =]

Oh my godness. where do i start..I love this place. it has the best turkish food i've ever seen.. the gyro's, kebab's, and the desserts are GREAT! People that know what real food tastes like should go here...All this comments that you guyz wrote aren't true..This place has quality and it is somewhere you can go any time of the day. How many places can you find like Bereket? Let me answer that: NONE!

The worst kebab and doner I have ever seen.

As being aTurkish guy, I know how kebab and doner should be!. They are trying to screw you by serving the last part of Doner "cold" and "very small bad pieces". Also it was very dirty. WhenI think about these issues I never go again.. It is a very expensive "fast bad food" place

Great Turkish food at low prices, 24 hours a day.

Bereket doesn't look like much, but these people care about food and about their customers. Soem of the best Turkish food in the city can be found here - excellent kebabs, wonderful, smoky baba ganoush, savory soups. the room may be plain, but the food certainly isn't, and the staff is gracious and welcoming. One of my favorite places, any time of day or night.

Worth going to only for certain menu items....

I'll start off by saying that this is a FAST FOOD STYLE Turkish restaurant. Keep that in mind when ordering because not everything on the menu is worth getting here.... I'll explain in a second. You go to Bereket to get a doner (gyro) pita bread sandwich!!! Their doner sandwiches are as delicious as their lentil soup (a must try!!). Yes, the kebabs (chicken and adana) are good but you are better off going to a real sit-down Turkish restaurant (ex: Ali Baba) for an entree. But if you are in a hurry and can't resist then go for it because their chicken kebab is yum yum yummy! Oh and give the kazan dibi dessert a try.... it is truly something else! Once again people keep in mind that this is a fast food style place and do not expect them to serve you food on a silver platter.

• Cons: It gets very crowded late night

Any Turkish Restaurant that serves kazan dibi for dessert has to be doing something right. I would go for the kazan dibi alone

Way Overpriced for What You Get

This Turkish spot popped up a few years ago, but I didn't try it until a few days ago. Me and friend decided to go all out and have a great big turkish meal. So we orderd an appertizer sampler which consisted of 4 appetizers and a kebab sampler, which consisted of 3 different kebabs with rice and salad. In total, with drinks, it ran about 30 bucks. For 30 dollars from what is a budget restuarant with the non-existent decor and plastic serving trays we expected alot of food.

But alas, it was not to be. First they don't deliver if you live maybe 5 or 6 blocks away, they said it was too far. So I decided to pick up. When I arrived I was handed a bag that was conspicously small, so I asked about my order to make sure it was complete, they confirmed. What I got was literaly two small tins of food. The appertizer sampler which you could pick up to four appetizers had a spoonful of salad, two grape leaves and a little hummus, they forgot the forth. And the kebab sampler had two small pieces of chicken, two pieces of lamb, and some beef, accompanied by a spoonful of rice and a little salad all in the same little tin. To add insult to injury the two pieces of pita bread that came with our order were stale and were covered in a white sauce that broke open in the bag.

To say this place is overpriced is an understatement. It was decent, but it definitely was not 30 dollars worth of food, even in Manhattan. I have actually been to good turkish resturants and had a meal for two for that price, and gotten more food.

I am not saying it is a bad place, but certainly NOT worth the money. I felt so cheated. Never again.

Good Gyro

Gotta say the gyro is really good. They pack it really good and it goes really good with the hot sause. it is usally crowed but thats also a good thing. The Hot sause is really hott so think before you pour it on your gyro. The soup is wonderful. Taste fresh and perfect.

It works for now

Bereket has a solid shish kebab for the (almost no) money, and you do get a lot of food. The rice is plain and juice from the salad tends to run and mix with everything, but the kebab itself was nicely flavored and tender and the yogurt sauce was tasty. It's no Zaytoon's, but it does the job! Since I often find myself in this neighborhood, I'm definately going back there.

Not worth what little it costs

The prices are completely ad hoc (despite the huge menu overhead), the counter servers are aggressively rude - even scolding - toward patrons, and the food was less flavorful than every other falafel/pita place I've tried in NYC. Even at the fairly low prices, Bereket is a rip off - and even an unpleasant experience. I know folks say it's convenient to stop in after a night of drinking, but I don't think I could ever be drunk enough to go to this place again.
