Music and Atmosphere!
by Adam I at Citysearch
This place is sweet! I was completely set on bar hopping all night, but I landed in the Living Room and couldn't leave! The atmosphere is really relaxed and I didn't have to yell over the music that was being performed in a different part of the bar. There's a one drink minimum but no cover charge, and after seeing their beer selection I knew i'd be there for more than one!
- Pros: Great Music, no cover
- Cons: Lame Bartenders
AWESOME VENUE
by Joeee at Citysearch
One of my favorite music venue/bars in the city! If you enjoy listening to local musicians and a relaxed atmosphere, then you’re sure to love this place. The acoustics sound amazing and has a great beer selection and friendly service. Plus there’s a front bar so that you don’t have to talk over the music for a conversation!!
great live music

The Living Room has the most comfortable atmosphere I’d ever been to. It’s a great place to just hang out and chill and of course listen to great music. This place has great live performances and different artists play each night. Every night is a different experience! Who can resist great music?!
Don't Waste Your Time
by Tribeca Mom at Citysearch
Unfortunately, this place used to be good but I guess since Nora Jones put it on the map, the Bridge and Tunnel crowd have found it and the staff treats everyone like they should feel lucky to be served by them. I wouldn't waste my time going back. There are too many other credible establishments who appreciate the neighborhood people.
- Pros: Can't think of One Right Now
- Cons: The Staff
Great sound; miserable atmosphere
by BridgestoneBike at Citysearch
I just heard the P*nch Brothers (* = u. This site won't let me use that violent word...). Anyway, it was my first time. They were fantastic, and the sound was immaculate. The only problems were logistical. I waited in a very hot, uncomfortable line snaking up the stairs for an hour and fifteen minutes (house opened late) and then watched helplessly as 50 people who hadn't been in line swooped in and took all the seats. I stood in the back of the room behind a pillar and tried to see the plasma screen. Throughout, the wait staff (who can't be paid enough to deal with the mayhem they're supposed to deliver drinks in) reprimanded me for sitting on the stairs or putting my whiskey on their "clearing counter".
- Pros: The musicians
- Cons: The jokers who sold me my ticket
Best venue in NYC!
by Johnelle at Citysearch
The Living Room is my favorite venue in NYC because of the great variety of performances. I know that any time I go, I'll see a great show. Also, the atmosphere is so cozy; the bar really does live up to its name!
- Pros: Relaxed atmosphere, great music!
- Cons: None

COOL SPOT!

I?ve been going to the LR for a few months now, and it?s been consistently good. All the acts I?ve seen have been good, and on most nights there is no cover. Except for a 1 drink minimum, but I always have a couple of drinks anyway.
What can I say, the LR has a cool atmosphere, good staff, and good music. That?s all I need for a night out
great place, great music
by pdn33 at Citysearch
This place has it all: Great music, a great selection of drinks, and a great staff. The staff very helpful and super friendly unlike some other places. If you like hearing new music and finding out about local artists in a great atmosphere this is the place to be! It is hard for me to find a place that I feel comfortable in, but I found The Living Room to be a great place to spend the night hanging out with some friends. I highly recommend you try this place out; you won't be sorry.
Great Live Music Venue
by IanR at Citysearch
In the movie Into The Wild, Emile Hirsch's character Christopher McCandless says "she was here on earth to grasp the meaning of its wild enchantment, and to call each thing by its right name," and the Living Room is clearly the right name for this intimate and cozy venue. If you want to hear new up and coming singer-songwriters than the Living Room is the place to be. There is a one drink minimum, but drinks are affordable, and there is usually not a cover charge, and if there is one it's about $10, so for a night out on the Lower East Side this is extremely reasonable. The place is in great shape, and has some nice comfortable couches by the bar for people to sit at. If anyone ever asked me what I thought of the Living Room, I would speak highly of it.
