Decent Little Brunch Joint
by MimaTaino
I met two of my friends here for brunch who love the place. It is a bit crammed but my experience was just fine. I came in very hungry so I would have been happy to eat whatever they put in front of me. The waiter had quite a personality. He seemed to be enjoying himself which was fine with us. Those who are snooty might not have appreciated it. I had the french toast with scrambled eggs on the side and it worked for me. Not the best ever but it was ok. Probably making it with a different type of bread would be better but hey there are people starving in this world so I'm not going to complain. I left satisfied and they refilled my coffee a few times. Nice.
Our waiter asked for more tip...
by micqa
The food was ok. The service was ok. We paid our bill and left tip on the table. Just as we stood up, our waiter asked if the food and service was ok and we said "Yes." Then he begged for more tip saying that we should give somewhere between 18%-20%. We've been to many more classier and more expensive places than Cafe Centosette. Although my husband felt that it was ok and he understood the waiter's desperation. This was a surreal experience for me and my son. A waiter asking for more tip, my first in 21 years of living in NYC.
Fantastic Brunch
by venya
I've been to Centosette about 6 times now for brunch and look forward to coming back every time. Nested on a cozy corner of 2nd Avenue, this place makes fantastic fresh omelets and French toast.
Both outdoor and indoor seating promises prompt service, and an attentive waiter. The food is priced fairly.
I can?t speak for their dinner service or menu yet, but I look forward to trying it sometime soon.
- Pros: Food, service, outdoor seating
- Cons: none yet
Great little Italian restaurant.
by Gezza
We love this little Italian restaurant. Great atmosphere and exceptional service - terrific waiting staff.
Food was delicious, try the mussels, or calamari, or chicken. Can't wait to return and try the cakes - didn't have room last time. In the warm weather, sit outside sipping a cold wine and watch the passing parade - this is our favorite place to eat in Manhattan.
worst place to eat
by fnycfor90
It would be an understatement to say this place is horrible. Firstly, the tables are pretty much piled on top of each other. I love going out to eat and because I work in the bizz I am pretty easy going when it comes to bad service. It took forever to get our order taken, and when we did the server was unfriendly and we could hear him complaining about his horrible night to the rest of the wait staff. Personally I don't like a side of depression with my fettucini
COLD LASAGNA, AWFUL WAITER, NO BREAD, INEPT MANAGEMENT
by lhin
This is my first review ever because this was the worse experience in New York I ever had. My roommate and I frown every time we pass this place. After taking thirty minutes to take our order, the waiter disappeared and never brought bread. When the food came, the lasagna was cold in the middle and there was no offer of parmesan cheese. When we complained to the waiter, he just stared blankly at us and then the manager came over and did the same. No apology whatsoever. Only tourists wandering lost on 2nd ave deserve to eat at this awful place.
- Pros: water.
- Cons: Everything but the water.
great customer service
by jessiprncss
I have been to this place a few times for sunday brunch. It seems like every time I go back it is becoming a more attractive place. There is good people watching when sitting outside as well. The service is wonderful, the staff is very attentive to all the tables. The food is good. I would say with that combination the place is worth a visit.
- Pros: service, food
- Cons: small, tight fit between tables inside
NEVER EAT HERE IM SERIOUS!!!!!
by brigidpower
OH MY GOD.. I just ordered from here pancakes with bacon and a garden omlette.. first of all it took the waitress 15min to take my order over the phone
SECONDLY they put bacon in my omelette and im a vegetarian. which i made VERY clear so then i called to complain and asked them not to charge me and they said no and that they would come back to take the food.. i said this was fine and then she put me on to the owner who repeatedly screamed at me in bad english that i was 'RETARDED' and a 'B*TCH' because to him whether it had bacon in it or not they still 'made me food so i had to pay' honestly i have never been so shocked in my life.. and now this maniac has my credit card details..
Cute little brunch cafe
by annievel
Live around the corner from this place and it has been the most reliable breakfast/brunch place. Have been there a number of times on Sunday and have not been disappointed yet. The breakast is creative and tasty. The place is great for people watching. Once you have your food they check in with you a couple of times, but then leave you alone to enjoy, NOT to ignore you. It's a great place to go when you just need to relax and catch up with your friends over breakfast. Been there once for dinner which was not fantastic, but ok because I wasn't that hungry. Better for breakfast/brunch. Definiely try it.
- Pros: Ambience, Breakfast, People Watching
- Cons: Dinner not as creative but edible
tasty food

Although I have only been here twice, both visits were pleasant. The food is scrumptious (artichoke pasta dish) and the service was decent.
- Pros: pasta, burger
