Do not plan a party or have a group of people here! They actually have a scam going on there – happened to a friend of mine and me. They require a credit card when you get there and then they just go to town. They don’t check for who is charging to the card and I believe (although I cannot prove it) that they pad it with other drinks. It cost my friend $400 and she warned me. So I called up and said that I wanted to reserve, but only if they collected cash/card from each customer as they ordered. Reluctantly, they agreed (it was a slow night so they wanted the business), so I planned my party for 30 people. When I got there, they told me they changed their mind and that I had to give my card to them. When I protested, he said that he couldn’t serve unless I gave my card. He suggested I collect money from my friends as they order (personally, I don’t like asking my friends for money when they order, even on my birthday). Anyway, 3 hours, and 114 drinks later (I have the bill), my $1280 bill came (including a forced 20% tip). My friends had handed me money totaling $630, so I was out $650. I’ve spent more on house parties before, but the point is that I was put in a terrible position, ended up paying for drinks I’m sure we didn’t have, and was lied to so that they can get me in the place knowing it would be too late to alert all my friends to go somewhere else once I got there. Anyway, this happened a couple of months ago (I needed time to cool down or there would be expletives). They have good martinis (although you can get better at places like Prime House close by), and there aren’t too many lounges on Irving, but just don’t go with a group.
Pros: Location
Cons: Bait and switch, expensive, bad service

This place has great martinis, they maybe pricey..but they are so worth it. Definitely well made. It's not the largest space, but it trendy and cool. Check it out.
Pros: Yummy Martini
Cons: Not that big, seating is limited

The drinks are tasty, the atmosphere is fantastic, the seating is plush (if limited). It's a great low-key but classy option for gathering with friends after work.
Pros: Low-key but classy
Cons: If you're going with a large group, you may not have enough seats; call in advance

This place is great.....fabulous atmosphere, great drinks and very friendly and attentive service. The crowd is made up of locals, and the drinks are average priced for a martini bar ($12). This is a great place to have a few drinks after dinner with friends or with a date. Very romantic!!
Pros: Service, Atmosphere, Location

I keep going back for the great martinis. The bartenders know how to mix them up right. Love the lounge atmosphere, decor and lights.
Pros: tasty drinks

This is one of the worst places that I have ever been to. We went on a Saturday night and it was SOOO crowded you could barely walk. There was no place to sit, barely room to walk around, and my eardrums throbbed from the very LOUD music. My friends and I WILL NOT BE BACK!
Pros: martinis
Cons: crowded, small, too loud!

The best Martini's in Town, particularly the Key Lime Martini. The atmosphere is just very chill, and the bartenders/waitresses are very helpful and nice. Its a really good place after work, and an excellent choice for a first date. Check out the garden in the back.
Pros: Chill Atmosphere, Great Drinks, Good singles scene

My friends and I are ALWAYS at Cibar. The staff is wonderful, the decor is swoonily gorgeous... very romantic, pleasant spot. My only complaint would be that it does get too crowded sometimes; getting pushed and jostled takes away from my enjoyment of everything else. But overall it's fantastic.

cibar used to be one of my favorite bars in all of nyc and i have to say i was glad to hear that others were offended by the perpetual private party going on inside. after being turned away 4 times (and im embarassed that it took that much!) i have to say there are many other places in this big city that are going to get my business. sorry cibar, but the great (expensive) martinis cant make up for selling yourselves away.
