Another store for hoarders of relics, memorabilia and other vintage goods.

by Contributor at Citysearch

The Scene
Though the entrance warns that "unattended children will be sold as slaves," the store is really for adults who want to be kids again or who love to reminisce. From floor to ceiling, you'll find vintage everything--some of it faux, but most of it authentic--including clothing (lots of leather and denim), magazines (Time, Life, Playboy) and even pinball machines from decades back.

The Goods
The large inventory finds its way into every square inch of space, with lunchboxes strung across the room and other random goods pinned to the wall. For sale in glass cases are old Pez dispensers of all heads and sizes, Care Bears figurines, and a generous assortment of Kiss memorabilia. You'd best keep your eyes peeled, or you may miss the "Happy Days" Fonz figurine that would make your bedroom.

THE absolute BEST of VINTAGE

by redbud at Citysearch

I have been shopping here at least once a week for EVER (I think it has been open for like 40 years!). They have by far the cheapest vintage clothing prices in all of NYC for amazing 1900 to 1980s pieces, and they get new stuff every Saturday. I get all my birthday and christmas presents here too. I am not a toy collector like the super-serious collectors who congregate here, but if I want it, they have it, or they will get it. And the staff knows everything about their art, and are super nice. Its like a museum where you can buy the masterpieces!

  • Pros: inexpensive, selection, super staff

Love Saves the Day!

by clk630 at Citysearch

Love Saves the Day is a fabulous store featuring toys, magazines, glassware, clothes and lunchboxes from the 1950's to the present. It's so fabulous that it was even featured in "Desperately Seeking Susan." I always find something that was part of my childhood...or even my mom's childhood! Some of the items are expensive (usually toys still in the box), but you can usually pick up a few things for under $10. They even have an old pinball machine that you can play with in the back. The store itself is a little cramped (you can't get a big space in the Village unless you want to pay an arm and a leg in rent), but they never fail to surprise you with their merchandise! From vintage Playboy magazines to old He-Man figures to a prom dress straight out of "Pretty in Pink", this store has it all!
