Two Thumbs Up!

I recently moved out after living in two of their buildings over the last 5 years. They were the best management company I've had so far in NYC. What stands out is how

responsive they were to any repairs needed in my apartment. The manager, also wrote me a very nice reference for my future (now current) Landlord.

Great Introduction into NYC Living!

Recently moved out of my first apartment in the city and could not be more pleased with my experience. Matel was great from beginning to end. They were professional and made me feel comfortable through what could have been a very intimidating experience. I found them to be responsive to any problems and would definitely recommend them without any reservations!

Positive Experience

Very surprised to see all these negative reviews.

My experience (as well as several of my friends) was very much the opposite. I always found them to be responsive to my maintenance issues (fortunately there were few) and never had any issues with rodents or anything like that. Their office staff was always friendly to work with, especially their receptionist, Frances. I would rent from them again should I move back to the city.

They exterminate at a Jewish home on The Sabbath

I've been a tenant in one of Matel's buildings for over 15 years. I have had to live with their filth but didn't care because the East Village had always been a mess.

About 3 years ago when me and my wife had a baby we asked Matel to correct the housing violations. We have had many including lead paint throughout the apt, obstructions to the window to access fire gate and numerous rodent infestations.

When I asked them to fix the rodent problem...I have droppings in my oven and stovetop...they send an exterminator once a month who bangs on the door with a metal pole at Noon every Saturday. I have told them I am an observing Jew who doesn't allow exterminators in on the Sabbath and could they please send someone on any other day. They refused. Just today when I called to remind them of the problem, I spoke to a man named Sol he said I was venting for no reason over this.

They have no respect for anyone..they are also Jews..you would think they would know better.

Move in at your own risk!

• Pros: The woman who takes the rent at the front desk is great!
• Cons: rodent infested dirty buildings. poor service

Bed Bug Problem

Matel Realty's apartment building 306 East 6th Street is infested with bed bugs. I just thought that other people should know.

Matel Realty are CROOKS

The brokers posted an ad on craigslist advertising they were the owner. I paid the broker a fee and Matel a fee to live in their scummy apartment. They blackmailed me to live in their own place. I've reported them to the housing authority and the police. These are the type of landlords and brokers you HAVE to stay away from!!! Matel Realty are crooks!

Never rent from matel realty

probably the worst landlord in NYC. They dont give you back your security deposit, they try to get you out of your apartment so they can rent the place for more money. They're not privy to other races and never make the building nice. Just keep telling you what you wanna hear. There have been a few stories of matel realty making physically threatening remarks and blackmailing their tenants. I've heard of illegal payoffs being made with real estate brokers and management companies. It is also known they're in trouble financially.
