I used to live across the street from Veniero's and I go there a lot. But yesterday I went to buy a fruit tart pie. It was super disappointing. I got home and find a mold strawberry on my tart. I was so upset. I was waiting months to go get one and I finally did and it was bad. So look out, on the fruit stuff. The cluster inside wasn't has soft it was hard like left overs. =( I was so sad. Veniero's used to be soo good. But now it's just good not the best. But so far I still haven't find any place that's better then Veniero's.

Just to try and set the record straight to all those who don't know pastry shops outside of Manhattan the best cannoli in NYC is from Villabate on 18th Ave. in Bensonhurst. The owners are from sicily & the ricotta is flown in from sicily & shells are thin & crispy. That being said yes Veniero's does make good cookies, NY & Italian style cheesecakes, pastries and assorted specialty cakes. I like the Italian cheese cake and rum cake sheets sitting on the counter you can have them cut to order, no need to purchase a whole cake and they are always fresh.

Pros: Good Cheescake, Cookies & Rum Cake

Veniero's has been a staple with me and my family for over 20 years. The service is great and the pastries, pies, cakes, etc. are second to none. I highly reccomend Veniero's to anyone who is looking for great pastries.

I tried to place on order on the website for Cannolis and the website was having real problems. I called in and asked for help, they said I would have to speak to Paula. I continued to have problems only now it wasing duplicate order when in fact the first order was completed with the incorrect credit card number. I called back in to speak to Paula, I explained my situation- she first rudely suggested that the problem was with my credit card company and that I should call them. I graciously explained my problem again and she said that someone handles the web orders and she couldn't fix it. After some discussion she hesistated but offered to cancel the original order with the wrong number. She needed the order number- Well do to the website not responding no order number came up. She rudely refused to help me without this number. I finally told her to forget the whole thing. Paula is one rude, unhelpful service person for sure. Avoid this place for Cannoli delivery- the service is terrible.

When I think Italian pasties, there is only one bakery that comes to mind... and that's Veniero's! This place never fails to satisfy my Italian pasties desires. The best Italian Pastry in All of New York.

After a wonderful dinner at nearby Lucky Cheng's, my friend and I came here for the much talked about desserts. The cannolis are crisp and filled with delicious cheese, the rum cakes are soaked with just the right amount of the heady spirit, and the esspresso was a warm welcome afterwards! The place seems always packed and loud. Service could be a little more cordial but it seems that you come here more for the sweets than the service. A wide variety of pastries abound here as well as the clientele. A great place to end the evening on a sweet note.

Pros: wide variety of desserts

Cons: long lines

I never sat down and ate at their cafe, so I can't comment their level of service. But whenever I am in the area, I always buy something to take home with me. I never liked traditional American cheesecake - too sweet and too dense, but ricotta cheesecake in Veniero's is just OUT OF THIS WORLD - not too sweet, fluffy and moist... I also buy a bag of their delicious pignoli, and that bag is always half full by the time I get home :) Thankfully I don't live in the area, otherwise I'd be overweight!

I will never go to Veniero's ever again. My last time there was enough to stop me from ever wanting to step foot in that place again. I had only ever been there very infrequently before, but now if I want good Italian desserts, I'm always going to go to Ferrara's. Our waitress was outrageously rude to us. We were seated fairly quickly, but then she was tremendously rude while we were ordering. She even made sarcastic comments that at one point when my sister was ordering, caused her to just stop and looked at the waitress. Actually everyone at the table turned, and I just thought, "are you SERIOUS??" It took forever for her to finally bring the food, and after she gave it to us she pretty much disappeared. The tiramisu was nothing like the tiramisu at Ferrara's, and everything else was just about similar quality or a disappointment in comparison. Even that would have been excusable since they do have chocolate cannolis with chocolate filling rather than just the vanilla filling that they offer at Ferrara's, but the service was just overwhelmingly bad & ruined the nice evening I had been having with my group of friends. We just wanted to go to a nice place after dinner to enjoy dessert, but it was COMPLETELY ruined by a woman who was so astoundingly rude, I can't even believe it. One of my friends asked her if the extra charge at the bottom of the check was included tip (it was labeled something he wasn't familiar with) & she snapped back "of course! that's a common thing for large groups in NEW YORK CITY!" as if she was talking to some tourist! We tried to complain to a manager, but no one would tell us where the manager was & they refused to get the manager for us when we stood & asked repeatedly. In fact, the man at the front just started laughing when we told him how rude the waitress was. It was completely insulting. I will never support a business that treats customers so poorly.

Pros: some good desserts, good variety

Cons: extremely bad service (& if you're in a big group, you'll be forced to tip the horrible waitstaff, which is extremely frustrating), some desserts were pretty disappointing

This review reflects my own personal opinion and is not to be associated with any place of business. However, I think its necessary to warn others that ordering a cake from this "renowned" pastry shop is like asking for rain in the Death Valley. It isn't going to happen. You call to ask why your cake has still not arrived and the reply you get is that it is on the truck. Fifteen minutes later, you have a party and no cake. What you do have are plastic forks and paper plates and a room full of hungry people. Another fifteen minutes later, you call and are put on hold for over ten minutes just so they can tell you that they cannot find the cake on the truck or in their refrigerator. "Sorry, we can't find it." A sixty dollar cake has vanished. No explanation is offered. From their perspective they don't have to care about the inconvenience they've caused you because they are after all famous. You can just run along and buy your cake from some other place. The loss of your business doesn't put a single dent in their profits. They continue on. They apparently think they can be as other reviewers have said, "rude" and "surly" to their customers and even downright incompetent with no consequence. Are they right?

After a wild night at Lucky Cheng's, my friends and I wanted a change of pace and dessert so I took them to this renowned Italian bakery and cafe. This place has the best Italian desserts and expresso outside of Little Italy. The cannolis, rum-balls, chocolate covered rainbow cakes, biscotti, all your favorite Italian desserts can be found here. You can sit down and eat here and take home some desserts from the bakery counter up front. A great place to end a night on a sweet note!

Pros: wide array of Italian sweets and pastries

Cons: none
