GO TO MERCEDES

Your experience at Astor all depends on who cuts your hair. I have been going to Mercedes for many years and cant go to anyone else. NO ONE blows out my hair like she does. Great for going to a party or just because. She is also really kind and sweet....I can't stand snooty stylists. I like doing business with people who are honest and I actually like. My friends get their hair colored and are always happy with the results.

Rita is the Ultimate stylist! Highly recommended.

Okay so I may not be great with words, but I'll do my best . I don't usually write reviews, but I know a great stylist when I see one and I'd like to let people know. Rita at Astor Place Hair has been a blessing for me. I have found a girl who does it all, and does it with style and brilliance. I will never go to one of those overly-pricey upscale salons again. I now have the ultimate stylist right Astor Place Hair in the Village. All of my experiences with Rita have been awesome! She designs personal and unique looks and as a colorist, she is second to none -- her highlites are off the charts! My look is now so hip and chic that I get stares everywhere I go. It has helped me both socially and professionally. She is so confident and so knowledgeable and has helped me take care of my hair and skin between appointments. Amazing really, I have never ever looked better! I refer everyone I know to Rita so we all can benefit. No reason to go anywhere else once you find your perfect stylist. Easily a Five-Star rating for Rita and Astor Place! I will never go to anyone else again.

AFTER SEEING SO MANY GREAT REVIEWS ABOUT MARTHA I HAD TO SEE FOR MYSELF HOW GOOD SHE WAS. I WENT LAST WEEK AND REQUESTED TO HAVE MY HAIR DONE BY MARTHA. SHE IS A VERY NICE LADY. MY HAIR WAS A MESS. I ASKED HER WHAT SHOULD I DO? SHE SUGGESTED I DYED MY HAIR A LIGHT BROWN WITH BLONDE HIGHLIGHTS AND I LOVE IT . EVERYWHERE I GO I HAVE PEOPLE TELLING ME HOW GREAT MY HAIR LOOKS AND I AM SOOOOOOO HAPPY!!!! THANK U SO MUCH MARTHA!!!

Jose is the best

I've been going to Astor for about 17 years now. I've always gotten a good cut there no matter who I went to.

Jose has been cutting my hair for about 8 years now and he always asks me how I want it and he does exactly what you want. He makes my thin, baby fine hair look good. He's good, he's quick and I highly recommend him. Jose is also a good colorist. You need color, Jose is your man. Thanks, Jose

Fran Rocks!

Fran always does a great job on my hair. But when she was

gone having her baby I went to someone else who burnt and bleached my entire head of hair. Not easy to fix. When Fran came back she fixed it completely in two visits. Now it looks healthy and natural. Fran is the best...Maureen

GO TO FRAN!!!

GO TO FRAN!

So it's about 8:30 at night one random evening, and I decide to make a drastic change. I walk into Astor Hair and Fran, though about to leave, graciously agrees to take me in. I had very long, damaged blond hair that I wanted chopped all off into a pixie cut and dyed some kind of brown color. I show her four different photos of the idea (Shannyn Sossoman, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley, Katie Holmes) and say "something like this that will work on me". She takes one look, and with wit, enthusiasm, smiles and attitude, transforms my hair into something INCREDIBLE. the major cut, style PLUS color was only $75. FAR less than I have ever paid and such a tremendous experience letting her do it- she's so fun and an amazing stylist. bottom line.. GO TO FRAN. I am sooooo beyond happy with what she did for me, with hardly any description from me and nothing but a glance at a photo. she even chose the color of it herself because I had no idea. and it was exactly what it needed to be. she's immensely talented and a joy to sit in the chair for!

plus, she just got back from maternity leave and she needs to support her baby boy :-)

• Pros: variety of stylists, affordable, laid-back, quick
• Cons: if you want the ambiance of a "salon", then astor isnt 4 u

Dani,Astor Place's Coolest Barber

I've been to Astor place few times and never get the same barber. If you go to the front counter,you take your chances. But if you need a fade and an entertaining conversation,ask for DANI! This young man has an old soul and cuts the way YOU want it cut. He's constantly asking if you want this done,that done,or NOT done and is attentive and tedious at the same time,tells a great story. By the time I was done,he had 3 others willing to wait for they refused to see anyone else and that kinda did it for me. He even asked one gentleman "Are you in a rush?" They guy said "Yes." His response? "Rome wasn't built in a day. I can't work in a rush,bro." Classic. Check him out! Thanx,Dan!
