This is the most expensive ripoff to fix your shoes imaginable. I walked in one day and asked the cost of adding a half rubber sole, the guy at the counter quoted me $30.00. I came back with my shoes the following week and a diiferent guy quoted $42.00!!!!! You can get the same job in any midtown shoe repair for $25.00. Additionally, they charge $10.00 for taps on only one end of the shoe! These cost $2.00 everywhere else. This place is convenient since I live in the neighborhood, it stinks that I have to lug my shoes elsewhere. They dont do that great a job either.
Pros: Decent selection of products - shoe polish etc..
Cons: expensive, dishonest, bad service

I love this shop. I work in the wardrobe dept. in a theater company, and i am constantly surprised with the level of quality work . We always bring new challenging projects to them, and they seem to always rise to the occasion. Besides being crafty and quick they are also very conveniently located one block away form Union Square station.
Pros: High level of craftmenship
Cons: long lines

If you are concerned about keeping the quality of your shoes, refrain from asking him. Don't trust him saying YES, YES, YES. I am just so devastated over how my shoes were altered from the original design. NO SENSE OF WORK!! ruined my shoes.... My mistake was that I only trusted the rating number of this store from Citysearch.

This store is so convenient for me that it is unfortunate to have to go somewhere else. I have gotten different stories (shoe can be fixed, cannot be fixed) by different employees... and the customer service is appalling. The man actually walked away in mid conversation and left to the back room. leaving me standing there not sure of what was going on. They overcharge and refuse to put estimat in writing. A better working knowledge of the English language would help their business. A total disappointment and a rude experience.
