Great Brunch
by noak11
We went for brunch this morning and were tempted by the $7 brunch menu ($11 with a cocktail). My friends had French Toast and I had Eggs Florentine. Both were delicious. We also had a side of sausage that was amazing! The service was really slow and we filled up on bread. They serve freshly baked flatbread with a garlic infused olive oil that is addictive. I highly recommend a visit for brunch.
- Pros: Cheap Brunches, Delicious bread and oil
- Cons: slow service
WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE
by gompy_usa
Orologio is a pleasant Italian restaurant, where food is made just as Grandma in Italy made it. Wines are excellent. Special wishes and dishes are made when requested.
We go here for the past 4 years, thus yes, we are regulars. Owner is always present to make sure all is done in proper fashion. Service is perfect. We remain regulars, because the food is excellent. During summer time a nice outside in front of the restaurant. Prices are cheap for the food you get.
What's not to love? I love it.
- Pros: good food, service, ambiance
- Cons: none
Friendly place, nice space and cheap brunch!
by kinglear
Being in the neighborhood, I have eaten here several times, but only for brunch. At 7 dollars, you are really getting your moneys worth, as opposed to the other higher priced places in the East Village offering basically the same thing. Great staff, giant space that is rarely filled, and a descent cup of coffee. The Benedict is great as is the scramble. Quick & easy, this place is the fallback when mogador and westville become too much to handle
- Pros: cheap and quiet
- Cons: menu not too extensive (brunch)
Favorite Italian Restaurant in the City
by guffues
My sister and I refuse to go anywhere else in the city for Italian. When I use to live in Alphabet City, I would go here once every couple weeks. Eventhough I moved uptown, I still come all the way downtown. Cozy atmosphere, delicious food everytime, and most importantly, CHEAP prices! The waitstaff knows us and are always accomodating. Chicken and Artichoke penne is incredible. My sister and I always worry what would happen if Orologio closed! I dont see that happening but we LOVE it here. Please try it you wont be disapointed!
- Pros: cozy, romantic, delicious food, awesome staff, CHEAP!
- Cons: absolutely nothing!
Love, Love, Love Orologio
by hocus999
Ok, first of all, let me just say that my out of state family have become huge fans since every time they come for a visit I drag them to Orologio; it's even come to a point where they don't even need menus. The chicken & artichokes with tomato cream sauce is my favorite dish (order it every time I go)..my dad goes for the lasagna. The wait staff is amazing, the atmosphere is quaint and it's probably one of my favorite restaurants in the city. My sister and boyfriend, both Upper East Sider?s, trek downtown for a dinner at Orologio. Oh, and the chocolate fondue dessert is awesome!
What a great find!

Orologio is a great little restaurant. The food is absolutely outstanding and the service is really good. The restaurant is cute and great for a date, not great for large parties as its a small restaurant. All of the pastas we tried were delicous and the antipasta appetizer was very good.
- Pros: Great food, good value, great service
- Cons: tight seating
Time Flies When It's This Good
by ninaontwelfth
Yep, a lot of clocks (many beautiful antique ones), but no need to watch the time. The food is consistently delicious and fresh, this coming from an Italian born and raised in the tradition of putting only the best on the table. Brunch at $7 is a steal (try the french toast made with Italian panettone). The sevice is remarkable and the owner (also owner of Cafe Pick Me Up on East 9th) is often there to oversee things. Judging from the other reviews, the quality in this restaurant has not changed a bit in a long time. I think consistency is the best attribute a food business can have. One last note to comment on the nice selection of wines, the home made tiramisu and the relaxing atmosphere. Good music. Restrooms always clean, but could be prettier.
- Pros: inexpensive, outdoor seating, full bar
our favorite place in NYC
by jen_terry
we go here so much that the waitstaff practically knows our order before we make it. always the same dishes: gnocci, lasagna, and the chicken/artichoke pasta. we just have to say which we want. the staff is so friendly, on-top of things at all times, amazing hot food, romantic. the only issue is that the tables are a bit wobbly and should be replaced. otherwise, it's the best place in the east village for amazing food.
- Pros: ambience, inexpensive, great food
- Cons: wobbly tables
East village dining
by mi8
Orologio is definately a restaurant worth checking out. Whether for a romantic dinner or simply a relaxing drink, the service and food are both first rate. It also doesnt' hurt that the prices are bohemian, in other words really inexpensive.
- Pros: food, value, location
- Cons: , small
My favorite Italian restaurant
by mjmarus
I discovered Orologio restaurant 3 years ago, when I moved to the East Village. Since then, I have become a regular. The food is simply delicious. Besides the seasonal menu, the chef always prepares daily specials, and sometimes if you have a particular request, he will satisfy your cravings with a custom-made dish. This makes me feel right at home (sorry Mom).
I like the fact that Orologio is for everyone, in that, I see people of all ages, backgrounds, and nationalities, as the menu fits a large spectrum of budgets and tastes. I have met the executive chef (Made in Italy), who combines true Italian cuisine with some local elements (like brunch). During the summertime, people in our neighborhood stop by the kitchen (which faces the sidewalk), to see what is cooking, or simply to say hello. I personally recommend the homemade pastas, panini, chocolate fondue, and the brunch.
- Pros: Food, Value, Ambiance
