Not so yummy..
by evillagefoodie
Did not enjoy this place.. looks more like a dive bar inside and the staff was not very attentive.. our dishes/glasses were not clean.. the miso soup came out cold then we had it come back (presumably out of the microwave) way too steaming hot...
the sushi rolls were not fresh-tasting .. and the quality reminded me of supermarket sushi..
overall this place is a dump with low-quality food.. There are so many great sushi/japanese spots within walking distance that I would definitely recommend you try elsewhere!
- Pros: cheap, location
- Cons: cheap bad sushi, bad service, bad decor
entirely awesome.

I had sashimi here once and got really sick that same evening. I'd been eating from this place for about a year, and generally I thought it was okay. Not top shelf, but okay for a sushi place. When I called them about it the next night, the man on the phone was very rude and dismissive. I take my business elsewhere now.
Amazingly good sushi.

Normally you shell out $$ for sushi and after your meal you kind of shrug and say to yourself "delicious, but it tasted like any other sushi"
Avenue A Sushi is suberb, you realize it was well worth the money. Fresh ingredients and the best quality cuts of fish. Prompt service and really excellent atmosphere.
Overall, Highly reccomended. Excellent food and service
- Pros: sushi

Went to this little joint on a Tuesday Night, the bartender was funny and friendly. They have $5 Martini and Mojito deals on tuesdays. The Lychee Martini was awesome! The staff was attentive. Definately order the Special Rolls. I loved the Snowball roll. Cute and funky place, definatly will go there again.
- Pros: Happy hour specials & special rolls
Awesome Sushi!

I have been to Avenue A many times and I must say it is my favorite sushi place in all of NYC. Not only is the sushi delicious, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is lively and entertaining. Great music to go along with yummy food and cocktails makes this the place to be for a fun night out with friends.
the best sushi restaurant that i have ever been

avenue a sushi is a great addition to east village area Japanese food. The service is amazing. If anything is wrong or not how you like it, ask and they will fix it plus more. The sushi is very good. I would go for any of the maki, nonetheless the nigiri is only topped by maybe 1 or 2 restaurants in the east village area. The food is also quite good. The noodle soups are quality along with any of the beef (that's what I've tried.) The selection of cold saki is good.i would definitely come back again,
- Pros: nice music, wondeful food, warm service.
- Cons: none
So Bad!

A completly overated expierience. The sushi was nothing to write home about. The real reason to go here is to get drunk on Sake Bombs and make a great mess. Don't get me wrong its fun. Great if you go to NYU and are living the lavish trustafarian life and can spend this much to get drunk.
- Pros: Nothing!
- Cons: Everything!
Masters at work.
