One of the Best

Its a running joke how many times we will hear Danzig's "Mother" on a normal night at 7B. That should sum it up for you. The bar is loud and worn, the clientele are locals and generally the place gives off that Thompson Square Park vibe that other places around the city just try to emulate. Sure the bartenders have attitudes, but just be cool with them, and you'll be fine. This isnt the meatpacking district, if you want to be pampered go to Tenjune and spend $500. Locals are treated well, alcoholics are treated well, douches are asked to leave. That is why I love this place.
- Pros: Great Dive, Great Music, lots of alcohol loving patrons
- Cons: Corporate Crew is slowly destroying the atmosphere
Do not go here. Awful owners. Awful bartenders
by epodds at Citysearch
The bartenders here are seriously awful. I would never ever give this place another dime. The girl that rmanages the bar is seriously immature and doesn't let in any attractive females because she can't handle the competition. If you're female and trying to get a drink, good luck. Her daddy gave her the bar, and she thinks she owns the world because of it. It's an obnoxious place - there's millions of cool places to go in the east village. This is not one of them.
the prior review was by a douche.

hey truthman.. you mo mo.. heather is gay. way to be so judgmental, its douches like yourself who ruin the area and everyone's fun anyway.
- Pros: the bartenders, locals, the local scene
- Cons: weekend suits and amateurs, occasional douche
screw this dump. go to another dive bar.
by truthman at Citysearch
screw this place and it's skunked tap beer. i overheard the bartender, a woman named heather, making fun of a gay customer. not kidding. screw this place. there are plenty of other dive bars to go to.
- Pros: none.
- Cons: bartenders are the worst in nyc. that's hard to do.
Waste of a great bar space
by oldpantsnewjersey at Citysearch
Went here with a couple buddies the night before Thanksgiving and it was almost completely empty. I fed the jukebox some money and the bartenders immediately started skipping my songs. Then they threw us out after we finished our first round. Sorry for trying to give you drips some business. You won't have to worry about that again!
- Pros: Nice looking space, but...
- Cons: Total dicklickers behind the bar
great local place for beer or drinks

Not anymore

Used to be my regular from about '94 until a couple of years ago when all the mainstays were forced out so the owner's daughter could make it her pet project. No more edgy characters, more more gritty LES classic - it's now frat party all the way. A crying shame.
- Pros: NY landmark, jukebox
- Cons: college bar, too loud, getting commercial
Can't Top An Original...

Being that its the last bastion of hope for The EV/Alphabet City area of Manhattan. 7B aka Horseshoe Bar aka Vazac's rocks harder than all of the other local bars combined. Be it that the staff actually are rockers and that the place has the best jukebox in town, the bartenders will always take care of you, send you to a cool spot, or help you seek out the best local bands... Ask for Heather or Justin both of which are in 2 of the best local bands this city has seen in ages, their stiff drinks will get you to where you want be, better than a visa card. My favorite times are after midnight and mid-day on the weekends... killer bloody marys and pitchers of beer always get my attention.
- Pros: Crossroads of Rock, A Movie Set, Location/Crowd
- Cons: old/young yuppies, just hit, them
End of an Era
by bornnycgirl at Citysearch
Now that 7B management has fired or made its mainstay bartender of 11 years quit so the owner's daughter can work there, this place has gone downhill. This was THE spot, not only because of the kick as* crowd and jukebox, but because of the bartenders. Now that they are all gone and replaced, it is the true end of an LES era. They are the reason this place rocked, and I will not be going there anymore. I hope the NYU sweater sets kids are enjoying this place now that they rule its roost.
avoid! avoid! avoid!

I used to *love* this place. Then, they fired one half of the reason I used to go there. The other half of the reason I was still sometimes going there quit a few weeks ago, and I'm surprised he lasted that long. The management must have changed or something, because this place is a major downer now. It was reliably good until about 2 or 2.5 years ago. Now...forget it. Also, the dive bar rep is a total misnomer: well drinks are $6!
- Pros: none
