Ultra's Tanya Pacht Rocks

Tanya's been doing my hair at Ultra for nearly 10 years - she is the only hair professional I've found that understands my thick, curly, crazy hair. When Tanya cuts your hair, you don't just look good leaving the salon, you look good until your next haircut. She does a lot of work for movie and music industry clientele, and she?ll make you feel like a star yourself.

Ultra has been the place to go for over 10 years

I've been going to Ultra for 10 years and have consistently been more than satisfied with the style and service that I receive there. After seeing several different colorists and stylists over the years, I now see Rusty, who really does an incredible job keeping me blonde and fabulous at all times. He'll always go the extra mile on the cut to ensure that something interesting and unique is added to the shape and flow. The salon has great service and products and despite the easy going and friendly vibe of the salon, the quality of the cuts and colors there is as high end as it gets in NYC. Oh yeah, and they have a great eyebrow shaping guy and a lovely mani/pedi business there too. F train takes you 1 block from the salon, so very convenient too. Recommended without reservation.

Fabulous Hair With Rusty!

I began going to Ultra a few years ago. My first appointment with Rusty, I knew I finally found my place! Not only does he give me the perfect 'pretend' cut since I only like my ends dusted and overall shaped but my color has never looked better. Rusty is now my stylist for life!

Amazing Hair Cut

Kyoko did exactly what I wanted and my hair never looked better. I have been trying numerous salons in the neighborhood looking for a great hair stylist. My roommate mentioned that she gets mani/pedi's at ultra and they were great for not much money so I decided to try them out. I asked Kyoko to not take off too much length, which I always ask stylist and they rarely listen. But she took off less than and inch from the ends and gave me so much volume I look like a shampoo commercial every time I take my hair down! I get lots of compliments on my haircut now and can't wait to go back to refresh my cut or try something new now that I know I can trust my stylist.

• Pros: Great stylist, easy to get appointments, clean
• Cons: Pricey for master stylist cuts

Definitely the best haircut

To the other person who posted a review about Kyoko!

Yes, she is amazing....very little input needed...better yet, just let her know what you kind of want, and she goes to it. She is extremely meticulous, but very easy going and the time passes quickly. For some strange reason, you are also correct....about styling later at home on your own, whether I return once a month or once in 5 months, it continues to look good....people always comment positively about "my new haircut" even if months have passed.

Oh yes, the new address is 123 essex.

Best Haircut, Color I've Gotten

Used to go to Kim, but when she left the salon I started seeing Kyoko. She is so fantastic! I have never gotten such great results for giving such little input. She really listens to her clients and understands what they want. The end result is a managable style that looks great! I have gotten my hair cut at other places in Manhattan and while it looked great before leaving, it was very difficult to recreate it at home.

Also, this listing doesn't note the Salon has moved. It's right off the Delancey stop on the F.

Raymond is a genius

I have always hated being shuttled back and forth between a colorist and a stylist. With Raymond you get a skilled professional who does an amazing job in both areas. He listens to your ideas, offers up suggestions and always sends you on your way looking fabulous. Great funky place, good people, my search for the perfect NY stylist/colorist is over.

best haircut!

I've been to so many places/ top hairdressers in NYC but Joe @ Ultra salon is the only person I will be going back to for the best cut! He really listens and takes his time to make sure you got what you wanted. If you want a funky, hippy style, or do something differnt - he's the guy!
