I visited the Eva Scrivo salon for the first time a few weeks ago. The salon is beautiful and I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist. I only waited a few minutes before I my stylist was ready to see me (very rare occurrence for a NY salon). I explained to the stylist the basic idea of the style I was looking for - keep most of the length and keep it low maintenence. I was a bit surprised she was using the razor on my hair, as it is already fine - but when she was done, it seemed OK. I liked (but didn't love) the cut but, like most cuts, you get a true feel for them for a day or two when you wash and style yourself. Unfortunately, when I made my first attempt drying and styling my new hair cut, I was horrified by the result! My ends were frizzy and stringy. My hair was weighed down by all the products the stylist insisted I needed and I couldn't get it to look even close to the style that I had when I left the salon that day. I was leaving to go out of town the next day and wound up going to the salon in the hotel to fix the cut. For the amount of money I spent on the cut and then the products, you can imagine my disappointment. Now that I am back in town, I am going to go back when this cut grows out. I have heard too many great things about the salon to not at least give it a second shot. But this time, I think I will see a different stylist. I'll post again and let you know how trip #2 goes!

Please call us!

We are deeply troubled by what happened with your first haircut at our salon. Please call us so that we can get to the bottom of, and rectify this situation. Please know that what happened to you is a very rare occurence, and that the razor is often used on fine hair with great success. Problems occur when the razor is used carelessly, in which case it can end up "frying" the ends of the hair (any hair, fine or thick). It's not much different than the damage that scissors can cause in inexperienced and careless hands. Only the razor requires even more skill and focus. We understand that there are few things that are as deeply disappointing and maddening as a bad haircut, especially when you have such high expectations from a reputable salon. We are very sorry and embarassed that this happened at our establishment. Please call the salon and ask to speak with Arik. If I'm not there, please leave a message on my voicemail how I can reach you.
