I have been going to Nathalie Herve for ten years now and I will NEVER go to anyone else. All of my friends know that I go where Nathalie goes. I have followed her everywhere and now I have moved with her back to Miwa Alex Salon. The salon is one of the only ones in the city to have fully horizontal hair washing stations, so you don't get a cramp in your neck when your hair is being washed. The staff at the salon is also very friendly. Nathalie is truly one of the city's top stylists! I have had short hair for a long time and I trust no one else with it. Nathalie is the queen of precision and takes the time to shape my style to perfection. She is one of very few stylists who actually cuts hair when it's dry. I always receive compliments on my haircut, even when it is six to eight weeks old. She cuts it in a way that it takes me two minutes in the morning to style. Not only is she a perfectionist when it comes to hair, she is also very kind and outgoing. All of her clients end up developing great friendships with her, which speaks to her bubbly personality. Nathalie is very dedicated and considerate of her clients, always informing us of any future trips or vacations so that we may schedule our appointments accordingly. If you are dissatisfied with your stylist or want a new look, go see Nathalie! I promise you'll never end up going to another stylist again...

Nathalie Herve at Miwa-Alex is my hair-savior. I’ve tried many different hair stylists over the years before I met her, but my thick, heavy, wavy hair always managed to come out looking like a helmet. (Yikes!) So in desperation, I started asking friends with great cuts who did it, found Nathalie, and that introduction changed my life. Nathalie is delightful, makes me like the way I look, and most importantly to me, it grows out so well that I don't actually see her that often. She has an intuitive understanding of hair and faces, and knowing this after all these years, I tell her what length I want and then just ask her to do what she thinks. I am consistently rewarded with the exclamations of friends and acquaintances, "WOW! You look so beautiful! I can honestly say that is Nathalie's artistry!

I love this place all around. Nathalie has been cutting my hair for over 10 years and I have followed her from place to place as she moved around. I am so happy she is back to that location. Nathalie, as anyone will tell you, is an amazing hair stylist. I get short haircuts and she does a superb job at it, her understanding of hair is so expertly that I just need to airdry my hair and it falls perfectly as is. She snips away for one hour and the hair grows back beautifully without any ackward period. This salon is very serene, loft-like and so relaxing to be in. You start with a wonderful wash, where you get to lie down as your scalp gets massaged. Then comes the haircut. All in one hour. Nathalie is always on time, which is essential to me as my schedule is quite packed.

My always curly and sometimes frizzy hair has posed problems for me from an early age, that is, until Nathalie Herve. It’s been over 5 years that my tresses has been in her care and it always amazes me that every time she cuts my hair it becomes the best haircut that I ever had. She makes haircutting an art and raises the bar on perfection.

I have lived all over the United States and had my hair cut by many excellent people and there is no question that Nathalie is absolutely one of the best. I travel four hours from Massachusetts just to get my hair cut by her every two months. She clearly loves what she does and it shows in her workmanship and in the amount of time and care she spends on each cut. She is personable and unpretentious and professional. A top-notch stylist who takes pride in her work.

i love Natalie and I am glad she is at the Miwa-Alex Salon. the Salon has excellent service. They will help you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in the door. My experience starts with getting my hair washed with a mini head massage! As Natalie cuts my hair i become incredibly relaxed, meditative, and sometimes fall asleep. at other times, we talk and talk as friends can do. Natalie is an expert and as such, i let her style my hair in the best way she imagines. in all of the years i have known her, i have always enjoyed leaving with a flattering style for me. Natalie is incredibly brilliant, authentic and approachable. i look forward to my transformation each and every time i go. I recommend you give her a try. However, i do not want her to get so many people i cannot get an appointment! PS, let me know what you think? i bet you would be hard pressed not to enjoy and be satisfied with your experience.

Having a high maintenance cut and color, i visit Barbara and Damaris every month. Never do I leave feeling anything less than beautiful. They are both always so friendly and seem to remember past conversations, a rarity in this city where we come in contact with so many people a day. The salon is alway able to accomodate my crazy schedule. After having tried some of the "so called best in the city" salons, I find Miwa Alex a find for quality and price!

It's always great when the best of everything converges. My only hairstylist, Nathalie Herve, is back at MIWA-ALEX. For a while last year it looked as though she might return to Paris and I found myself checking my skymiles. Ten years is a long time to be totally certain you'll be looking chic. Ten years is a long time to go without a mistake in your haircut. Ten years is an investment into friendship and trust. But now Nathalie has returned to my favorite of her venues. It's such a pleasure to go there. My only complaint is that I never have to wait long enough because Miwa has such a good collection of current magazines. It's three subways from where I live in Hudson Heights....but still cheaper than Paris. Nathalie is a six star!

I've been going to Miwa Alex for almost 6 years. Wonderful salon, professional and friendly service, never crowded, and very reasonable prices. I HIGHLY recommend Demaris for a haircut -- she listens to want you want and doesn't stray from it. She does a superb blow-out too. Barbara does a fantastic job with color. I'm a brunette and highlights tend to turn out brassy, but she got it right on the first try. I made the mistake of trying out another salon once, only to come back to Miwa Alex.

After my hair stylist left the city several years ago, I was lost. I had tried several different salons only to have one bad haircut after another. I remembered how I met my last favorite hair stylist at Miwa-Alex so I decided to go back. That was almost a year ago and Damaris Fernandez has been cutting my hair ever since. I'm so glad I found someone I can count on. Damaris listens to what I want and gives me her professional advice for my specific hair needs. Thanks Damaris!

Pros: Unique washbeds allow you to lay flat instead of sitting with your neck flexed backward.
