Waste of time, employees don't make the slightest effort

by NYbaby87

I went to the store on 777 3rd avenue.

This is one ridiculous place. I wouldn’t go there ever again. And I would NOT recommend it to anyone who’s looking for upscale and/or professional and quick service. Here’s why:

I bought my dad some $360 Prada sunglasses. He is a -3, so we wanted to change the lenses on the glasses.

It says that this Lens Crafters is open until 8 pm. So we arrived at 5:35 pm. Four (4!) people were “helping” us. We waited for an exam for 10 min. after which a CLIENT (not one of the employees) told me that the dr. is leaving at 6 pm. She also mentioned that she was the last patient that the dr. would be seeing. So there’s this huge store, filled with useless employees who are wandering around, pretending to work… and only 1 doctor?! I asked one of the employees to check if the dr. would mind staying for 15 extra minutes – the answer was no (without even asking.) She told me that we’d need “way more than 15 minutes, because there’s a lot of paperwork.”

I then asked if they could simply use their machine to get the data of one of his current pair of glasses. The answer was “no, because it wouldn’t be accurate.” Nonsense. He’s had plenty of pairs done this way. They obviously wanted to rip me off $ for some so called “exam.”

I was then scolded for not making an appointment online. And I was told (not asked!) to come another day.

So I took my dad to Leonard Opticians (which is like 5 min. away.) The guy who worked with us was extremely courteous and professional. Most importantly - we got the job done in less than 10 min. They got 2 of his current pairs of glasses and took their data. They also used some kind of machine to check his eyes. We didn’t have to pay anything for the exam. The employee showed my dad a wide variety of colors to choose from. We ended up paying $265 for both lenses. The “paperwork” was a name, address and phone. The lenses will be ready in 3-4 business days.

Save your time and visit this optician instead of wasting money and energy in this generic Lens Crafters.

This store is a rip off!!! Don't go here!!!!

Recently I went in to get a screw tightened at one of the arms of my glasses. I was seen immediately suspected as a buying customer when they realize I was in for a repair treatment turned around quickly.

I gave them my glasses and asked if it would cost anything and said no. Excellent I thought

As I waited, they immediately came back and stated that the entire frame is broken and that I'll need new frames. This entire process took less than a minute and clearly no effort was made to even inspect it properly.

I was floored! Clearly this isn't the case. It simply needed to be screwed in. I immediately felt I was being hustled by a two bit idiot.

The employee they got arrogant stating "well I feel bad for you because those are expensive glasses and now you will need a whole new one" Rude!

I asked for my glasses back and was retuned with the arm totally off. I asked for tape and looked at me blankly and said, "We don't have tape."

Is this how you treat customers who pay more than $300 dollars on frames?

Are your employees or so called technicians that un-trained that they can simply look at something and wave it off and declare it un-repairable?

Is this how you generate business through people who need help and take advantage?

Not only do I demand resolution, but will also campaign how awful that store is. As you probably know, word of mouth is the best way to close a retail store.

  • Pros: Close to work
  • Cons: Bunch of dumb theives
