Average Mexician dinner...
by enick
This place was okay. I would advise not ordering the steak in your fajitas unless you really like your meat well-done (to which I say, you must not really like meat...). Also, cheese does not come with the fajitas and the vegetables in it are not fully cooked. So biting into a piece of red pepper, way undercooked...my tongue was burning off. My friend liked his, though. Overall, the service was fine and the prices were okay. Nothing spectacular.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?

Um, they charge $5 for a CAN OF SODA!!
My friends and I wanted to grab some good Mexican food one night. Myself and one other friend had been there before and had a great time. Inexpensive food and large menu to choose from. My second experience was not the same. It was dirty right from when we entered and the wait staff was obnoxious and slow. We were confused when we found that the menu was different and was now hand written on one sheet of paper that had been photocopied. Not to mention the fact that the prices had skyrocketed. They even charge for the chips and salsa. I mean what Mexican restaurant does that!?! When I asked my waiter why the change he snottily replied, "um that's personal miss" and then reluctantly sighed, "they fired a bunch of the cooks and this is all they know how to make". So we ordered, ate a mediocre meal and then asked for the bill. I was literally stunned when I saw that I had been charged $5 for a can of soda. RIDICULOUS. I asked for a manager and was told that there was none.
The entire experience was a painful one and I most definitely will not be returning. Taco Bell is a 4 star establishment in comparison to El Rey Del Sol.
- Pros: None

Great Quesadillas, Watemelon Margarita!!
by jenjulio
I liked the cute patio out back, very chill enviornment, not fancy but very cool, nice place to chill out with a group of friends for a few hours. I would not buy any soda, it was $5 a can!! The food was a bit overpriced and the menu was SMALL-they said they were short a cook- I found that dissapointing but the food we had was great!! We had steak and chicken quesadillas and steak fajitas. then we got a pitcher of watermelon margarita, very yummy! we are going back next time we see a movie nearby! for 4 people our bill was about 100, not bad.
- Pros: Quesadillas
- Cons: Menu
dirty restaurant

When we walked in, there were piles of chips siting out in a dirty bin and then...We sat to eat and found ( things that weren't food) crawling on our table. Eat at your own risk, I guess.
- Cons: eat at your own risk.
Way overpriced drinks - fantastic staff
by ROCKORR
We were just drinking here and I was deeply distressed to learn that the Tecate cans I was drinking were $8 a piece. I've never heard anything more ridiculous.
The staff however, was fantastic. Our group grew steadily from 6 to maybe 11 and they were willing to bring over more chairs and even an extra table. I've heard the outside patio is excellent but we were there on a rainy day.

Cuervo-fueled Mexican cantina brims with kitschy character.

In Short
Folkloric masks, Santeria candles, puppets, skeletons and sombreros swathe this low-ceilinged restaurant tucked away on a busy stretch of 14th Street. Chili pepper lights drape across a greenery-edged back garden. A straightforward Tex-Mex menu, including enchiladas, quesadillas, nachos and fajitas, make the perfect tequila sponges for the most popular orders: margaritas by the pitcher, in fresh-squeezed flavors from watermelon to pineapple, so popular that many patrons who come for happy hour find themselves captivated until closing.
great garden in the back!

This is such a great summer spot for hanging after work and they have yummy portabello mushroom quesadillas! It gets crowded though, so get there early!
Did Not Honor Reservations for Cinco De Mayo
by tde44th
Made reservations with a number of friends weeks in advance and called several times to confirm. When making sure everything was in order on May 4th, the host mentions the fact that the owner decided not to accept or honor reservations anymore leaving me looking like a moron with my friends. These guys are clown shoes, but I guess if you want to be spontanious and wait on line for hours, then this is the place for you.
- Pros: No need to call in advance
- Cons: Long lines
