Yes, the waiters are hot! Yes, the food is great! The prices are reasonable....but I truly love the welcoming feeling they give to you every time you enter. It is great to eat in a place like The Dish where there is no attitude like other restaurants in the Chelsea area. Great job The Dish!
- Pros: Food, Price and Staff
The Dish is DE-lish

Dish is a fun, energetic place, where everyone is having a good time. The people that are hating on it here are probably boring and are frightened by the younger hip crowd. The food is pretty damn good, which amazes me considering its big menu. Steak salads, awesome chicken dishes, huge dinner selection for everyone. Loved the drinks and the Chelsea gay atmosphere too. Reasonable prices too. Terrific service to boot!Cashiers are also very very nice and fast. Thanks a lot
- Pros: 5 Star Gay Restaurant
Simply the best

I've gone there with my boyfriend just because i've heard great things from a lot of people .Well, after we finished our dinner i understood why all these people are going there. Great food with prices from another decade, personable service, our waiter was really attentive and the atmosphere made us feel so wellcome .Everybody is so friendly. We left the place with a worm feeling in our heard and full stomach and we deffinetly going back there again.New York need more places like the dish. Also, if you are gay, the waiters are great to look at. If you are straight, they hire the best looking ukranian girls to gawk at.
- Pros: Like Coming Home
This restaurant is going downhill very fast

I took my partner to The Dish today for an early supper after seeing The Chorus Line. We ordered our food and drink from a very tall, tattooed waiter who absolutely STUNK of cigarette smoke. My partners carrot and ginger soup came out ice cold while my onion soup had a nice pool of grease on top. Appetizers consisted of poppers (very good) and calamari (very greasy). I ordered the Hasta Pasta (over cooked pasta, undercooked broccoli and basically flavorless) while my partner had a steak dish that was supposed to be over spinach. Waiter came out just before meal was to be served saying they had run out of spinach (all while we watched some guy come out of the kitchen with a plate of spinach). While the only thing in the past to worry about was getting the wrong check, now getting a hot, decent meal is also on the menu. Save your money, tastebuds and time. Go the McDonalds!
- Pros: Nice Decor, fast to fill your water glass, hostess was very polite and smiled
- Cons: waiter smelled badly, food was poorly prepared, only one bathroom and it was dirty
quiet little find

I came here with my boyfriend for a quiet little birthday dinner (on a weekday). We didn't really plan anything, we just walked around 8th ave. after work and walked in. They have an upstairs with large windows (which were open) and a cropped view of the Empire State bldg which was nice on a warm night. We're both vegetarian and they had plenty of choices for us. The cost of dinner was super affordable and the food really touched the spot after a long day of work. We didn't have desert but I couldn't help but overhear 2 girls at another table raving about their cheescake. I'd go back here for another weeknight dinner, the waiters were also very nice.
- Pros: quiet, affordable, tasty
- Cons: appetizer was forgotten but it was too much food so it ended up being alright
nothing more then a cheap diner

Walked in at 6:00 and no one to seat us.Along came a person dressed like he just came in to use the bathroom approached us and said sit where ever you like. After 10 minutes a scruffy waiter came and asked are you ready? we sat near the counter and all the waitstaff was joking around touching each others behind and yelling in spanish.Along came a dishwasher with a smelly mop started to mop near our table,we had to chase him away.We asked to speak to the manager and along came the person from the bathroom,he was not shaved, smelled of cigarettes and coffee breath. He had on a black tee shirt, dungarees and spoke with a heavy greek accent. He tried to speak to us but we couldn t take the foul breath,so we just left.
- Pros: cheap food, you get what you pay for
- Cons: greek diner in chelsea
Cheap eats, great atmosphere

The atmosphere is friendly, spacious, and upbeat. The brunch menu is a real steal, offering a free drink with your meal. I wouldn't order the cheapest steak, however - you get what you pay for there. The breakfast menu is reasonable and the food delicious. The staff is friendly and the service okay. The menu is ample but the environment non-greasy.
- Pros: Good prices, good atmosphere
- Cons: Don't expect miracles
More than made up for mistake

i've always liked this place-- solid food, huge menu, nice atmosphere whether by yourself or with friends. Last night i ordered take-out from them and they messed up my order.I wasn't furious or anything-- it happens to everyone-- but i did go by today to tell the manager. He was so gracious. i didn't expect anything except "we'll work on that," but he insisted on refunding my money. because of the mistake, i might have been wary of the dish in the future, but such wonderful customer service will keep me coming back. a wonderful neighborhod staple.
The Dish is GREAT!!

I have eaten her for breakfast and dinner several times, and it is GREAT every time I go. The food is awsome and the scenery inside is just as good as looking out from the 2nd floor over 8th street. It is a great place to take a bunch of your friends and hang out and enjoy some terrific food and sights. Prices are reasonalble and portions are larger than you would expect for the price.
- Pros: Inexpensive
Very Crappy Food

Is a Tuna filet supposed to be chewey and difficult to even pull from your fork. No and somebody needs to teach Dish this. The fries were nothing special although not terrible. The spinach-rice had awful flavor and the French Onion soup (the best part of the meal) was covered with cheese but it wasn't broiled until it began to brown as it should have been.
