Four important things to know before you go…. 1. If you pay by credit card, make sure to check your statement a few days later. They have been known to “up” their tip after you have signed your receipt. 2. The music may not be any better than any other bar in town. It might be worse. 3. If you order the same drink more than once and are at any time charged a few bucks more for the same drink, do NOT bring this to the attention of the bartender. You may get bitched out. 4. Have fun!

This place gets packed! I like the set up though it's difficult to naviigate when crowded. Drinks are expensive.

When this bar opened, it was a fresh new thing for New York, with an airy open vibe with windows that let light in and a decor that was upscale and loungy. With that came attitudes, lines and VIP cards. It defined the Chelsea neighborhood and was filled with fresh young things with stuck up attitudes--and I was one of them. After having moved back to NYC after 4 years on the West Coast, I rediscoved g. Gone is the fresh attitude and it now has a more comfortable mature vibe (with a great mix of both suit and tie and younger trendoids) that provides a great hang out space that is comfortable and yet stylish. I think that g has grown into itself and is now a much better bar than when it opened. And while the bartenders and wait staff might not flirt relentlessly like in other bars where they flirt for tips, they are professional and friendly.
Pros: nice space, great for hanging out,
Cons: can get a bit Path/LIRR on the weekends with the influx of weekend drinkers

Ridiculously crowded both times I went with friends from out of town. I was trying to figure out what all the fuss was about. Someone please tell me.

G has a good vibe with the hottest bartenders! It has been around for years and is up and down in hotness factor. I went last week for the first time in 4 years. It was SO HOT! I felt like I was at David Barton gym! Staff is all so friendly.
Pros: Location, Quality guys
Cons: Smokers outside the door

After the doorman let in our group of 7 we were all very disappointed in the space. No vibe no energy. Smells weird a few children hanging out thinking they are the hottest thing. Nothing about the place that would make me come back. In short just another empty spot who thinks they are the hottest thing to hit NY.

What rude staff! There are so many great bars in Chelsea, best to avoid wasting your money and time in this one. Staff is unpleasant, it's crowded, drinks are overpriced and check your bill at the end of the night since they may add a sizeable 'tip'!
Pros: near other bars
Cons: crowded, staff, prices

The staff was so rude to me, a paying customer, that I will never, ever darken the doors of a seemingly cool club.

i really didn't an "L.A.-WeHo" type bar in in NYC, but there it was...i hate to say it, but the people in there reminded me of being inside a gay bar on Robertson Blvd./Santa Monica Blvd. the interior decor is interesting. the bartenders seemed unfriendly and unenthusiastic, i guess they are too busy admiring themselves...
Pros: location, lighting
Cons: service, drinks, atmosphere
