Solid neighborhood bar

I have been going to the Westside Tavern on and off for many years. No matter how much time passes, the place remains the same. It serves my friends and I as a comfortable, reliable bar. No frills, no drama, and moderately priced drinks. I saw Dave Attell once while at the bar, and if anyone typifies the vibe this place has, its him. Just a bar to drink at without the drama that seems so hard to avoid in NYC. In Chelsea a place like this is hard to find.
- Pros: Easy Going, moderate drink prices, pool table

I went to a private party at the Westside Tavern. Great place! We had so much fun between the super friendly bartenders and staff, the pool and the virtual jukebox. Would go back again.

I love this place. Met my fiance here almost 2 years ago and even though we don't live in the area anymore whenever we're in NY we make a stop. Atmosphere is always good and great place to kick back and enjoy a couple of beers. Keep on doing what you're doing.
- Pros: Great place to sit and have a beer with friends

It's hard to find a nice neighborhood bar on Citysearch; Westside Tavern is listed as one of the best. Its prices are definitely reasonable -- no need to pay $10 a drink. No line to the clean, brightly lit bathroom. Once in a while there's a waiter; I wish they'd ask for more refills. Then again, the bar service is fast and good-mannered. One nitpick I have is the lack of tables. I've not been to the downstairs lounge (heard a rumor), and the sofas are nice, but I wish a larger group can gather more comfortably. The music is a bit loud, too, but what bars aren't? The place is probably too small for tables. There's even a pool table. I was introduced to the place after joining a soccer team; it's a three-block walk from the turf field.
- Pros: Inexpensive service, Sofas, Clean bathrooms
- Cons: lack of tables, loud music
A dependable bar

This kind of place is rare these days. It is just a basic bar with good bartenders and a pool table and places to hang out. It is not a dive nor is it a faux dive wanna-be, just a place to have a drink or meet up and watch a game. They could have a bigger music selection.

Where does one go at 3am for one last drink that invariably turns into 4 last drinks? Why, the Westside Tavern of course. There is nothing better than this place. The drinks are reasonable, the downstairs is chill and the pooltable is small enough for a 5'5" person to occasionally rock it. Also, more often than not, the bartenders remind you of older brothers with brogues you never knew you had (or wanted). Plus, I hear Dave Matthews hangs out there.
- Pros: Couches, Reasonable Prices, Jukebox
Brass Fittings and Midget Juke Boxes

It may be darker than a David Fincher movie, but what Westside Tavern lacks in natural light, it more than makes up for in ambiance. The selection of beers is first-rate and the classy, not to mention brassy, fittings make for a comfortable environment. The juke box is also pretty good, though music lovers over 6 ft may find themselves undergoing an unexpected Limbo session. Also pleasing to this particular Limey was the regular showing of UK football games. All in all, a result.
- Pros: The lighting, UK football screening, Juke box (selection)
- Cons: Juke box (height)
