wine and liquor store

My experiance with this store is that they offer good and knowledgeable service during the day, specifically for wine and specifically during the day. However, there is a problem if you call in the evening and get the evening staff. It seemed that the sales person puts one on hold with almost with any question and you get a lady who anxiously seems to make up excuses why they refuse special orders from distributers who they already buy from. Unless you are willing to go there during the day the customer service doesn't exit, it is sophomoric.

• Cons: poor staff other wise

The Background
These days, wine knowledge has a potent social cache, and collecting has become something of a sport. But with cramped apartments, storage can cause headaches to shame the worst hangovers. That's where this place comes in. In 1997, two friends decided to open a wine storage company after running out of home space. They tried to lease a room in the basement of Chelsea Market, but were told that to do so, they had to open a retail store upstairs. So they did.

The Appeal
Well-labeled shelves stacked with bottles from almost every region line the walls of this airy space. Even if you can't tell a Chardonnay from a Pouilly Fuisse, the friendly staff assures the overwhelming collection is never intimidating. If you are still confused or just want to know more, there are regular tastings and a variety of classes to help you master the varietals.

Best source for quality wines in New York

This store has an excellent selection, competitive prices, and the best customer service in New York. If they do not have what you are looking for ask, they might be able to get it for you.

The staff is knowledgeable and the stores buyer (Cynthia) has a superior palate and can translate your preferences into excellent wine purchase recommendations.
