Unique Place

by fab123456

Very clean, unique and convenient. It is just like staying in your own NYC apt. Small rooms with a shower and restrooms located down the hall. I enjoyed the atmosphere. It is located near a Subway! I enjoyed most of my stay! Great deal on price.

However, the owner /manager was not very friendly. The staff was not very knowledgable of the area. If you do stay here make sure you do your research before visiting or take a laptop to look up needed information....the staff/owner will not help. Also, make sure you don't forget anything. I left some pretty expensive accessories/products there and they will not work with you on getting it back....response was, "we don't do that!" Be careful!!!

Chelsea chic meets country decor.

by Contributor

The Scene
This European-style hotel is housed in a gorgeous brick building on a relatively quiet street. The owners, Paul and G.G. Weisenfeld, are friendly and glad to help orientate first-time New York visitors. Best of all, the cheap room rates are sure to put a smile on the face of any bargain-hungry traveler.

The Details
The 22 rooms were recently renovated and are nicely decorated in country-style Americana. Rooms come with washbasins and showers, but they have shared toilets. Ceiling fans, air conditioning and soft, comfortable beds add a touch of luxury not usually expected at such bargain rates. It's best to book at least four weeks in advance.

Great Spring/Summer Stays

by wudzee

Very nice suite with serene city garden right outside door - you must ask for a suite with garden access, there only two - Steps/ separate building are issues, but minor. Great Chelsea location, will stay again. Even stood in suddenly available parking space till I brought my car around.

  • Pros: Value, Location, Service
  • Cons: only onstreet parking

Great, spacious locale!

by xela92

I stayed here during a recent business trip and found the suites to be very spccious and comfortable. There is one trade off.... the suites are located a couple of buildings down from the standard rooms (suites are housed in a seperate apartment house.) It was a REAL hassle getting in and out of the apartment house with heavy suitcases. Other than that, great location and reasonable rates. Very quiet locale also.

Great Find

by googie

I stayed at the Chelsea Lodge last month and had a great time. While staying there it felt like I had my own room in NYC. The place is pretty low key, there's not even a sign on the building! This is a great feature because it gives me the comfort of not being a "target" once I come out of the hotel. I actually feel like a New Yorker! The rooms are kinda small, but they are very clean! I would recommend this to any other budget traveler out there, it's a great bang for the buck!

  • Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly staff, Clean
  • Cons: No phones in room

the joke's on you buddy

by kewpie320

when we jumped in a chelsea cab the driver had never even heard of the place...for good reason i see. there wasnt even a sign out front. the room description when i reserved: full bed, bathroom included. well a SHOWER was included alright (placed right next to the bed creating a complimentary sauna!) but the toilet was down the hall and around the corner which is better since the room seemed about 8 X 6ft. there was no place to put your luggage since that would further minimize the already tiny rooms. paper thin walls? at night you can hear conversations from other guests rooms so you'll have to keep everything to a whisper which is terribly UNROMANTIC. i know there are different standards for new york but this place AIN'T CHEAP either! in fact i did find another hotel with better amenities at the same price.

  • Pros: in heart of chelsea
  • Cons: freakin tiny room, freakin tiny bathroom, freakin tiny bed
