European charm in the shadow of the Flatiron building.
by Contributor at Citysearch
The Scene
This European-style inn is in a great location in the Flatiron District. It is within walking distance to Greenwich Village, the Empire State Building and 5th Avenue shops.
The Details
Occupying a townhouse building, the property has the feeling of a giant walk-up apartment. The hallways are narrow, and the stairs creak as guests ascend to their rooms for the night. These, by the way, are good things. The rooms are small but cheerfully decorated with antique furniture and colorful bedspreads and curtains--a country home decor that makes this place special. The bathrooms (some are shared, some private) boast fun murals painted by local college students. In terms of amenities you can expect cable TV, coffee makers, refrigerators, in-room safes and other basics.
Cozy, even for an older crowd

best for budget keeping the budget

The rooms are clean, come with a few amenities, like a fridge, and the service is friendly. Its in a grat part of town, and the continental breakfast from Nana's treats downstairs is delicious. You get fruit or juice, coffee, and a pastry. They all look great but bagels were so good i didn't venture to other pastries. Has "charm," even though our standard room was the 1/3 the size of a parlor.
- Pros: breakfast, inexpensive, friendly
- Cons: no elevator, small rooms
