If I had started going here sooner, I could have saved so much $$$$!!!
by Madaminthecity at Citysearch
I have lived in NYC for 15 years and have tried many high end places looking for the perfect natural looking highlights. Now after going here - I realized I wasted so much money go to those other salons. I WISH I had known how good Antonio Prieto salon is. I even went to Celebrity stylist Nick Arrojo and got a GREAT cut and color for $600, BUT I have to tell you there is a lady at this Salon JILL PALMER who I have been seeing for 2 years now, and she does a EVEN BETTER job for 1/6 th of the price! I hate to give up my secret, but I have to say, Book Her While She is Still Cheap!
- Pros: Jill P. and the great deals they have, open SATURDAYS
- Cons: One bathroom is a one way mirror - odd
Not worth the money at all
by americancheese at Citysearch
The stylist was sweet, and the receptionists were overall pleasant (if a little scattered), but for the high price that they charge, it was really a very, very average cut (more on the below-average level). the reason I'm giving it such a low star ranking is that it was a shock to get a cut that was below the level of something from Supercuts or a 30 cut at a low-end salon. The stylist was fairly new, and although the person was an adequate stylist, the price asked for this person's services were way beyond what it was worth. If you pay 100-150 for a haircut, it should guaranteed to be really good. You should also walk out of the salon looking great, and it should still have some spark the next day. This was not the case with the cut I received. They also used the products which they are contracted to really sell and although the stylist used those that are supposed to add body, they did the opposit and made a very dull flat look. The stylists were also talking about other clients, revealing some of their personal behaviors as soon as they left, and that's really low and unprofessional. I'm mostly super-disappointed that the day after the haircut what I have looks like a sawed-off wig was put on my head. Also, for a high-end salon, there was nothing above-level that was offered (they offered water, but after I took two sips they took it away because they said it got in the way of their work (??). Although they gave me a piece of paper to fill out with a list of questions asking for a laundry list of personal information and details, including my address, email, date of birth, phone number, age, etc., it was a wast of time because I'll never go back.
- Pros: stylist was a nice person
- Cons: not that great a cut
Myles is Fantastic
by Jackie0123 at Citysearch
I found Myles after going to several other makeup artists for trials for my wedding. Myles was head and shoulders above the rest. Totally professional, very intelligent, fun to be around -- and most important he LISTENED TO ME! Everyone else I went to -- I would show them pictures, tell them details of what I wanted -- but they would just paint me up to look like their last bride. Myles carefully looked at my clips, he listened to me, and was the only person I went to who really took elements of what I showed them and made them work for me. He made me feel and look wonderful. He was a pleasure to be around on my wedding day as well. Thanks Myles!
Best color in the city!
by TepTep at Citysearch
I've been going to the salon for 4 years now and absolutely love it. I refuse to go to anyone besides Danica for a single process and highlights. Her precision is impeccable and I always walk away happy.
I highly recommend the salon and Danica!
- Pros: Friendly staff, great products, hip salon
Always a great experience
by NYUGirl at Citysearch
I have been to Antonio Prieto on numerous occasions as part of their apprentice/new talent program. I have had haircuts, single processes, and highlights, and was always very pleased. Every single stylist I've had has been attentive, meticulous, and always makes sure that I'm happy with the result. I often get compliments on how great my hair looks. Plus, with the significant discounts that are associated with this program, it is by far one of the best deals in the city. Looking forward to going back yet another time!
BEST Highlights

I researched the heck out of this place before I decided to take the plunge and start highlighting my hair. I now go to Jill and love my highlights! I'm so happy I found it, such a wonderful relaxed place. Thanks Jill!

Jasellynne is the BEST
by sasha1313 at Citysearch
I've been going to Jasellynne, or Jay as some call her, for over a year now and every time I leave I feel like a million bucks. She cuts hair with such skill and ease that its just incredible how everything comes out! The environment of the salon is very calm and you feel pampered as soon as you step in the door. Overall, this is a WONDERFUL salon and I highly recommend Jasellynne!
- Pros: great, great, GREAT haircuts

Disappointing #2
by Diane R at Citysearch
Wow. Looks like I had a similar experience to "SwissChard" re: color. To the salon's credit, they did everything they could to rectify the situation. In fact, I appreciated how they handled the situation. I guess these things can happen, but I was very disappointed with the color unfortunately. ;(
- Pros: Great Staff, Very Friendly, Great Products
- Cons: Unexpected color, bad lighting in salon
Walk out feeling FABulous
by Kimmerg at Citysearch
I've been using the apprentice program at Antonio Prieto for a few years now and have never been let down once, no matter which colorist or stylist who has worked on me. I always walk out of there feeling FANtastic and yesterday with colorist Melissa was no different. She knew exactly what I was looking to accomplish and she delivered. I feel great.
Thanks, Melissa!
wonderful hair color for brunettes
by elizabethwnicholas at Citysearch
I had my first color appointment after moving to New York with Lindsay. I was covering up a grown out old dye job with semi-permanent dye that had left half of my hair strawberry blonde on the bottom and the top half my natural dark brunette. It was a difficult undertaking, but Lindsay gave me three washes until the color came out right, and people haven't stopped complimenting me on my hair since I left the salon. Lindsay was honest about what it would take me to get back to my natural color, and I will be more than happy to go back to the salon for the whole process!
Highly recommend!
- Pros: personable, efficient, talented
