I HEART JANET!!!
by dolphin812000 at Citysearch
Moved to NYC in the spring and was so lucky to find Janet! Recomended to her by my roomate who always has great hair even when she just wakes up. She is so skilled and pays great attention to detail. She's a perfectionist who will never let you walk out of the salon looking less than perfect. Her highlights are always very natural looking and she gives a great deep conditioning treatment afterwards to keep it looking healthy.
Another pro is that the rest of the staff is great too. The receptionists are adorable and always give you a confirmation call the day before. The assistants are so kind and great at what they do. Especially the assistant C.C who is great about taking your coat right away and making you feel at home. I always tip her extra for her excellent shampoo too. The Kerastase products are great and they even serve good wine. Just can't say enough about how much I love this place!
- Pros: Janet's expertise, prompt service, open 7 days a week
- Cons: nothing bad about the place in my opinion
color is nice, but skip the cut!

have been here a couple times. always been decent but just went here the other day for a cut and color and my haircut is totally uneven. much longer on one side than the other. I'm going to go back and try to get it fixed.
I love it ,I love it, I love it!

Leonard is just amazing, nothing but the best. Have had long hair for quite some years now, went to Leonard and said I was tired of it. Now it's short and just gorgeous.......LOVE IT!
- Pros: Everything
- Cons: None
Wine was sour but Thom was sweet
by Dibblebabs at Citysearch
I went to Leonard Golino not knowing what to expect, it's a small shop in my neighborhood I went to years ago. I've seen Thom walking his dogs, so I figure a dog person can't be all that bad for a hairdresser. I also read some of the reviews...
Let me tell you I think it's a great salon but I have very thin hair and am thinning on top and I've seen a couple of others years ago that didn't do good. Thom suggested a layer cut that worked out easy enough for me to style myself.
I need to get y hair cut pretty often or it falls flat, and Thom doesn't charge an arm and a leg so I'll be back.
I don't understand whats up with his bellybutton I was kind of afraid to ask him would somebody explain
- Pros: Good cut knows how to work with fine hair
- Cons: Absolute swill dont drink the wine
I'm a convert

I originally went to see Leonard years ago, but saw Thom for my color when it grew out badly from the Upper West Side Dramatics I live nearby. I work nearby and really like Leonard's shop so I went back again.
I didn't get to see Thom's bellybutton but he did give me a good color and mixed it so it didn't turn out brassy like it usually does after a couple of weeks. Skip the wine and don't go on Saturdays, its as crowded as a Dominican shop just before a Communion!
- Pros: Haircolor on point
- Cons: stations crowded, skip saturday
I love my hair!

Thom did my color several weeks ago and I just came back from vacation. My friends can't tell if my highlights are real from sun, or from a bottle and this is EXACTLY the way I like them! Every other time highlights always looked like a plaid placemat growing out of my head, I don't see the lines I used to... thanks Thom!
- Pros: great color great price I'll be back
- Cons: one hairdresser way too loud in such a small space
Good head of hair
by MaryMary at Citysearch
HI
I read reviews and saw Thom. He is serious without being stuffy and quirky without being weird. I like a punk look but have to work 9-5 in an office and he knows how to do that to my hair so my mgr doesn't complain. I can get away with my look in the club & office and it won't break the bank. The cut was shattered but precise (this is tough to do)
Make sure you ask to see his bellybutton!!
- Pros: they serve wine
- Cons: can hear EVERYTHING in small salon
Thom knows how to do hair
by lindafarth at Citysearch
I was referred to Thom by my friend Jennifer. After joking around a bit to calm me down, he got right down to business. I wasn't so sure about the cut until after I left and styled it myself but it fell right into place (my old had a piece that always popped out). My highlights are as bright as I wanted (usually they don't get them to the root) and I will definitely be back, thanks Thommy!!
- Pros: Solid haircut color was exactly what I wanted
- Cons: Salon is hard to find (it's small)
TINA IS THE BEST COLORIST IN NYC!
by MissPinky at Citysearch
LGS is a very simple salon with none of the BS of a lot of other salons we've all been to. just great, amazingly talented people who are good at what they do, funny as all hell, and located in the best part of town (chelsea). Tina is super-talented. She doesn't even yell when you go in to have her clean up someone else's really bad dye job. And she's always been willing to move her schedule around to fit mine. I've been following her for a while now, and I won't stop. She's simply the best.
- Pros: the best colorist in town, and she's adorable.
Two great stylists
by busycitygal at Citysearch
I found not one but two great stylists at this salon. Dan really does an amazing job with my color. I like highlights but absolutely hate it when it grows out and my roots are noticable. Since going to Dan, I don't have that problem anymore. My highlights look so natural, like I've spent alot of time out in the sun, but when it starts to grow out, it's barely noticable, even to me. He is the first colorist I've ever gone to who can accomplish this. LOVE HIM! And then there's Thom. A couple of weeks ago I decided spur of the moment to get my crazy curly hair cut. I was given an appointment with Thom. Told him I was so over blowdrying and flat ironing and wanted to go natural, wash and go, but that my hair had a mind of it's own. While he cut my hair the assistant watched (to learn) and I was amazed to listen to him explain why he was cutting my hair the way he was. He found all my crazy cowlicks and pointed out to her the way my natural locks were falling and he cut my hair according to that. The end result; he gave me an adorable cut that falls into place every time. No more fighting with my hair every morning! What a blessing! I get the distinct impression from both these gentlemen that they truly love doing what they do and that they really want those that sit in their chairs to walk out of the salon feeling great about the way they look. As far as I'm concerned, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! And that's not the complimentary wine talking either!
- Pros: very fun but very professional stylists
Ahhhhh I found the salon
by CSMobileUser at Citysearch
After bouncing around and stylists vanishing. I found Leonard Golino salon. Cozy and real comfort able I landed with Thom. A long established NYC stylist and colorist . He listened and consulted with me and delivered. Pointers on how to get multipal looks and mnafe it sealed the deal. And on my own produced the finish that has always escaped me. A nice atmosphere and a up and diverse crew made me confident that I'd be able to return and that it will be there a surefire sign that it made the grade in this make it or break it city. Thanks Thom. Cynde Cyndesch
