Service is so bad it's not worth it

by winterbird at Citysearch

One good thing I'd say about this shop is the layout and clothes are arranged in good order. But that's about the only good part of it.

The stock is OK for a consignment store, lots of YSL and Chloe, but they aren't cheap. These days, you can find better bargains for "old season new clothes" on the internet, you don't have to tolerate the appalling staff in this store.

There are also a few knock-offs Chloe tops mixed in there. I am not surprised, as the staff there seem to be rude and clueless, they probably can't tell knock-offs from genuine items! When I tried on a Chloe dress, the ribbon belt was broken, so I asked the staff if they know how to tie it back, they have zero interest in helping me, you can't find more unhelpful staff than these and also I find it very strange that they don't even seem to be interested in fashion - why work there?

Forget it, there are way better bargains out there.

  • Pros: Some good stuff can be found
  • Cons: Incredibly rude and "ignorant" staff, some knock-offs found

The best consignment store in NYC!

by BCohen101 at Citysearch

Ina is one of the best sources for any fashionista. I absolutely love shopping here. Whenever a friend or family member comes into the city- this is a shopping destination. With 5 NYC locations around the city and each one offering different selections you are sure to scoop up favorites from many of the hottest designers- Marc Jacobs, Christian Dior, Gucci, Helmut Lang, and Halston to name a few.

Shoes, bags, dresses, tops- INA has it all- to my shopping-hearts content and yours! I have been shopping here for years and have even consigned things to them. If you love fashion - look no further than INA!

No longer impressed...

by scooterpie66nyc at Citysearch

The salespeople here have far too much attitude. I've shopped and consigned here for several years, and I'm going elsewhere in the future. The past several times I called in advance to make an appointment, and they were booked for weeks. When they do grant you an appointment, you're treated as if you are lucky they are looking at your garments. This is a consignment shop people...not brain surgery! There are too many good shops in NYC to be subjected to the attitude here. Next!

The one-of-a-kind pickings are hit-or-miss at this no-frills consignment shop, but an all-designer policy makes browsing worth the effort.

In Short
A bonanza for women who are both fashion and money conscious, this store is akin to a permanent warehouse sale (but with changing rooms, and without any stampeding). Brand-name jeans are piled near the front window, next to baskets of knit shirts, while racks hold print-heavy dresses, pants, jackets, skirts and shorts--still sporting Barneys tags--by designers like Paul & Joe and Dolce & Gabanna. Shelves of footwear include Sigerson Morrison, Prada, and Fendi heels.

If you look past the attitudes of the sales clerks, this place has a great selection!

by nycgirl2002 at Citysearch

The clothing here is great -- beautiful, pristine and, although pricier than most second-hand shops, a lot of the things are new or barely used at more than half off the original price! They are very selective about the brands they offer, so you won't waste time sifting through a lot of duds to discover a designer deal. I just wish they had more to choose from because if you don't buy something that catches your eye, chances are someone else will snap it up before you've had a chance to return for it! The only thing I have not liked is the "I'm so bored and busy being bored to deal with you or be nice to you" attitudes of most of their salesgirls -- they seem to forget that our business pays their wages! Other than the slightly hoity toity-ness of the Ina girls, I hope this place is around forever. Perhaps they will some day learn to bring their level of customer service up to match their high level of designer clothing selection.

  • Pros: selection of items (being picky about which designers are offered), condition of clothing
  • Cons: rude salesgirls, items get snapped up so they never go on sale

Cute shop!

by rebeccared at Citysearch

This is the store in Nolita to check out. The same clothes as over in soho but for halfthe price. It's not for everyone, my mom couldn't find anything in her size, but me and my girlfriend went crazy. You have to really want to find things here, there is only one of everything. But it is worth the hunt!

The salespeople were not pushy, which I like. If you like the feeling of salespeople hovering over you and constantly checking in, this is not for you either.

great find!

by sallymass at Citysearch

I felt so lucky the day I stumbled across Ina. They have an amazing selection of affordable designer clothing, and you don't even notice that the merchandise is "previously owned", as described by a sales person. For anyone looking for that special something you thought you couldn't afford I recommend you check this place out!

  • Pros: great prices

Why buy Retail?

by daradara at Citysearch

This place is nothing like some of the other vintage/thrift shops I have been to. Everything at the store was in good condition. It took me a while to know I was even in a consignment shop. The selection is very downtown trendy, so if that's what you're in to you should definitely check it out. I found some great shoes that were marked down half price, and a Dior bag that I had been dreaming about but could not afford.

  • Pros: great selection

Small store charm

by dora99 at Citysearch

I read some of the reviews that these other women wrote and I have to say I disagree. The salespeople here were very nice to me. Maybe the women who had problems here should go shop at Banana Republic, or the Gap. Someplace where they pay someone to stand in the door and say "Hello That is definitely not happening here, but who needs more corporate stores when you can have cute, homey ones like this. Great stuff, friendly staff. Really ladies, it's embarrassing to hear you all complain. Get over yourselves!!!

Overated!

by NYD at Citysearch

It is only because of the high turnover of merchandise that INA is still in business. The staff is extremely rude and un-helpful and I've even witnessed a long & harsh (and loud) beratement of a customer by one of the staff b/c she had not put shoes away that she tried on. I'd prefer to pay more money, and get nice service. The variety of clothing is nice, though they have bumped up prices grossly in the last year (for 4 season old stuff). I, unfortunately, have seen a few knockoffs being sold as well. I do not know if this is an oversight on their part, or deliberate. Tacky, nonetheless. Save your shopping dignity and dollars for a trip to a consignment shop with class.

  • Pros: good neighborhood, good variety of stuff
  • Cons: , WAY overpriced, selling knockoffs 2!
