Where vinyl thrives and time screeches to a halt.

The Scene
Rocks in Your Head is the quintessential record store, with racks full of old vinyl and a charmingly dungeon-like feel brought on by its low ceilings and basement-type ambience. Needless to say, these are not attributes usually ascribed to Soho's more typical shrines to commerce. But that only adds to the magic of the place.
The staff plays to the room, too, with wide-spanning expertise and a tendency to engage their coworkers in heated debates over, say, which 1972 Rolling Stones bootleg more faithfully captures the true spirit of rock and roll. If you're not sure, just ask--they'll have your answer and are generally friendly enough to share.
The Goods
Vinyl-wise, Rocks offers a good mix of collectibles and affordable highlights pulled from the catalogs of '60s rock, punk and newer indie rock. (They really, really dig Phil Spector, too.) The stock changes regularly, so it's worth checking in often. On the CD side of things, they offer much of the same, with particularly good prices on indie rock.

A good old school record store. Good selection of Jazz and Rock and Roll but the overall selection is obviously not as extensive as the big music stores. The staff is great and they have an impressive list of DVD's for rent or sale. Just a great place to browse for music.
- Pros: friendly staff, cool atmosphere
- Cons: selection is lacking
